We stayed 2 nights first weekend of Oct. Rented the King Jetted Tub room with lake front balcony. Over $300.00 a night. Closet door latch was broke, room was very generic, wall around the tub was moldy in the grout. Pool had a dead mouse floating in it. Desk hust blew it off like it was nothing. Paint and tiles were in terrible condition although the water was clear it was nasty in there. The pool shower had mold in the wall. Breakfast was so pittifull. No Eggs, meat, nothing hot. We ate cereal .. never will go back.
Just came for dinner which was good, but not great. My medium burger was over well done, the server was new and learning but did a good job and the hostess wasn’t the friendliest. We asked the hostess for outside seating and were told none was available even though we could see empty tables. Other guests asked the same and were given the same response, which was met with bewilderment. I would go back but I’m not sure I’d go back often, all things considered including the price.
Kind of a rip-off. It was great that they are pet friendly however I had to purchase two rooms. One for each of my 12 pound poodles. I was told one pet per room. Booked room six months in advance and called three times to verify the pet issue. Then at check-in I was told by the clerk that I could have two dogs in the room. Too late to obtain a refund for the second room. When I thought I needed to book two rooms I requested adjoining rooms. Mind you six months in advance. One room was adjoining -the second room was not. One room had a/c that functioned properly. The other wasn’t adjustable. And by 2 am the a/c was shut down and we were sweltering from the humidity and warmth. $250.00 a night -per room?? I’m not happy. Both rooms were clean. But a the premium fee and lousy service kind of killed it. The resort itself is right on Houghton Lake. We did not use the water park, pool, etc. The breakfast wasn’t anything to write home about and the ladies who were serving it complained about their work environment to us the entire time we were drinking our coffee. Enjoyed dinner at the restaurant.
Listen.... not having a microwave or refrigerator can fall under "not guaranteed." Handicap accessible is not questionable. We don't request it for the fun of it! PRIOR to taking the room key I said, just to be sure, it's an accessible room right? She fiddled around for a bit and knowing full well it wasn't she said, yes it is. I called down when I saw the room and said, I'm in room 206....this room is considered a handicap accessible room!? regular king room with a jacuzzi taking 1/4 of the alread small room and no grab bars near the jacuzzi or in the bathroom After having me hold she came back and said, can I call you back after a I get this figured out. The call back was, you didn't request handicap accessible. I said, I did and my itinerary shows I did. She said, we have a room without a lake view. I said, that is the opposite of what I came here for. I requested and paid for accessible and a view of the lake. She said all we have is without a view. I said no...the view is why I drove 3 hours! Got online with hotels dot com and eventually got 1 night back. 7 to 10 day to get it back though. Also, smoke free must not include marijuana.
My husband and I stayed at this Motel for a couple of days. When we first got to our room. We decided to go out onto the balcony to see the view of Houghton Lake. The minute we walked out. We had spider webs all over us, and there were millions of bugs on the walls, banister, and chairs. Eventually a gentleman did come up and clean the Balcony , so we could sit out on it. We could tell it hadn't been cleaned in a while. The Balcony should be part of cleaning the room. People pay good money to stay in this Motel. We should not have to wait to be able to enjoy it. Will not go back.....
Not a good stay. The front desk lady was rude and unprofessional. We got a dirty room at first that hadn’t been touched. The balcony was unusable, chairs were moldy, and infested with spiders. Clearly has never been cleaned. The sink in our second room was clogged to the point you couldnt leave the water on for more than a minute. Everything was outdated and the bathtub was rusty. You aren’t allowed to go in the water park past your checkout time unless you pay $15 a person even though there was nobody inside or in the parking lot on a Monday morning, our son was devastated. The room was $400 for one Sunday night. Not worth the money at all.
We had gone to the indoor water park. My family with 2 adults and 3 kids age range from 3 to 14. We all had a blast. The water was clean and is well maintained. It didn't smell of chlorine at all. That's a good sign! The slide was my two older kids favorite part. My wife really liked the lazy river and the jacuzzi. My son who is 3 liked the splash pad. The staff was awesome and was very nice. We live about 50 miles away and drove here specifically for the water park. We will return!
The Lakeside Bar & Grille is one of our favorite places to eat in the area. We highly suggest the Pastas. My go to is the Crispy Chicken Mac N Cheese, while my wife usually gets the Shrimp & Chicken Piccata. For an appetizer, the Monte Pickles are unique and hard to beat. The food is absolutely delicious, and has been very consistent.
The room was extremely dirty. There were crumbs and trash between the beds and side tables. The balcony was absolutely covered in bugs and we couldn’t sit out there if we wanted to because the chairs were coated in bugs and filth and have 100% never been cleaned. The sliding door wasn’t even attached to the track. We went to the attached restaurant and waited for 30 minutes to even get a waiter the restaurant was not busy at all, small groups who were sat after our party of 3 were seen before us for some reason. I would absolutely never return. The only redeeming quality is the view.
I didn't have a room when I went there. I went there for the open swim at their little water park inside of the hotel. The waterpark was nice. A few different things you could do which definitely dispersed the crowd of people. The waterslide is simple but really fun. The open swim is VERY affordable. Only 15 per person for a whole day of swimming. The service was alright. Had to wait a bit to initially pay and grab the bracelets. The pool and lazy river are fun additions to just relax in. There's even a small pool with a little fountain the kids can play at. Noteworthy details: It's very affordable for the open swim. The park is pretty clean. There's a few different things you can do at the park which disperses the crowd.
