I haven't always had the best experiences with the police, but their service in my recent interaction with them was exemplary and this extends to the Sheriff's department. The two individuals I dealt with were respectful, professional, and responded in a timely and appropriate manner even though I couldn't possibly have been their top priority. It really was above and beyond, and I'll never forget it.
No sure who to blame but the homeless can do and act w impunity. A homeless person, caught on camera stole my daughters bike out of our backyard and 15 minutes as he was stealing more stuff out of our neighbors yard, the police caught him and we got our bike back but 30 minutes later we saw the same man walking in front of our house. The police just let him go- no charges- the literally seem to do everything to protect the homeless and nothing to protect average citizens. We now have incidents like this on a weekly basis. Is it the da’s, judges, police? I don’t know but it sure is broken!
Tried calling the non-emergency line to report some suspicious activity by my house... the line goes to an automated message that goes on, and on and on...and then it goes on and on some more in spanish. My thought is that this is done in purpose to discourage people reporting. Less crime being reported must mean the police is doing a great job, right?
Honestly, I’m sure there are good people here but my experience has been atrocious. When my car was stolen it took them an hour to put out that it had been stolen. The apartment complex has so many issues that we have called on and I have even left a messages that was never returned. I’m not sure if it’s a big city thing but I really don’t have faith with this department anymore and am trying to get out of Lakewood.
This is just one out of MANY 1 star experiences ive had with lakewood PD over the years. One example bald head Officer Matthew Christensen near colorado mills mall is a brute force Rambo style "bad cop" in the way he carries out his "investigation" which amounted to nothing. Honestly overall a very helpful department except the colorado mills mall cop Matthew Christensen,
The Lakewood Police Department was very effective, efficient and friendly during our recent encounter. We had someone break into our garage and steal items. They arrived quickly and managed to catch the person responsible. Officer Jeff Larson was very knowledgeable and took time to answer my sons questions as we watched him fingerprint. Thank you LPD.
UPDATE!!! I will update my previous review, After the debacle with the officers at the desk on the night the car was stolen things have improved. I stand by my review for those officers, they were very rude and inconsiderate of anyone or anything except their time. But, I was contacted by Detective Garcia of the Lakewood PD after a week, and he was very professional, very understanding, always returned calls, and supportive, not only of my daughter but myself. I would like to commend him on a job well done and all the follow through. He has kept us updated throughout the process, they made an arrest and charges have been filed. I was notified today the vehicle has been recovered. KUDOS to Detective Garcia, and just wish the other officers had half the professionalism Garcia has. Thank you Detective Garcia. The citizens of Lakewood deserve better than the police department they have in place. My daughter was working in Lakewood on 01/26/2020 and after work went to the Planet Fitness in Lakewood. She was driving my 2018 Jeep and parked in the parking lot. She was there about 1 1/2 hours and went back into the locker room. The lockers had been gone through and all of her stuff was stolen. The person then proceeded to the parking lot and stole the car. The Lakewood Police department was called, and instead of coming out and identifying the suspect they took a claim over the phone and said good luck. Planet fitness had a video of the person and the PD didn’t want to get it. After numerous calls and numerous messages they finally returned a call. The officer that returned the call was very uncaring and had an attitude like he was being bothered. He said, “we have 10,000 cars a year stolen here and we don’t look for them or the thieves. If they turn up good but that’s the only way they could be found.” If they have that many stolen a year you would think it would be a priority. But apparently they are ok with thieves in Lakewood. The PD was told the person who stole the car went to a 7-11 and King Soopers near planet fitness. The response is, “that’s Denver so that’s their problem.” It’s no wonder that Law Enforcement has gained the reputation they have gotten. An overall investigation into the Police department, it’s supervisors, and it’s policies should begin. If it’s ok for people to steal 10000 cars a year from its citizens, then is not a good policy. Good luck to the people in Lakewood and it’s surrounding areas.
Thank you so much to the officers who came to help me and my husband after we were assaulted today. They came very quickly and were able to get things handled in a timely manner. The person responsible was taken into custody within an hour after the incident. I'm sorry that I dont know the officers name but they were all very respectful and listened.
I call sometimes about gang related crime and they come out, they investigate but the criminals move quick! Take photos and video and help the cops help you. Thank you for all the work you do dealing with YUCK and troublesome ventures
Not really happy with how they operate. I requested a uniformed officer to come to my work as a landscaper broke my back window with a rock and they were not wanting to admit fault. officer told me to fill out a report online via voicemail. I mean what is the point in the service if you don't come to the citizens when needed Lucky for me we had the incident on camera and they admitted at fault when they saw the f surveillance thank goodness my work has my back.
