The funeral firm was first established in Wernersville in 1852 by George Wolfensberger, a local cabinet maker. His son, Richard A. Wolfensberger and son-in-law, William C. Feather continued the business operating as Wolfensberger and Feather. C. Norman Lamm, William Feather's foster son, grew up around the business and established the Lamm Funeral Home in 1918 following the death of William Feather. Jerre E. Witman, Mr. Lamm's son-in-law, joined the firm in 1936 and became a partner in 1949.
The current owner of the firm, Frederick P. Krott, grew up in Wernersville and started working for the firm in 1971. He later purchased the business from Mr. Lamm and Mr. Witman in 1986. The Harvey A. Hill Funeral home, Rehrersburg was acquired by the Lamm & Witman Funeral Home, Inc. in the early 90's and has been operated since as a branch of the firm.
