HOME OF THE HAND SHUCKED CLAM!

Description

LaMonica Fine Foods began in Brooklyn, NY in 1923. Peter L. LaMonica opened a small seafood shop that specialized in fresh, locally harvested seafood. His business thrived as the demand for fresh seafood increased. To meet this challenge, Peter expanded into the fishing business. Soon after, Cape May Foods was formed in Cape May, NJ to process and pack high quality seafood for the retail and restaurant trades.

In July of 2000 the company purchased a larger, newer facility in Millville, NJ. Production began in 2001 and the total relocation to Millville was completed by 2005. Also in 2005, Cape May Foods changed its name to LaMonica Fine Foods to honor its founder, Peter.

Today, under the direction of his grandchildren, LaMonica Fine Foods is a bustling seafood supplier. In addition to the largest Hand Shucking plant with more then 300 employees, LaMonica operates our own fishing fleet and state-of-the-art packing facility. Our clams are Wild Caught, and our entire product line is a Product of the USA.

Under the brand names of LaMonica and Cape May, we sell both fresh and frozen canned clam and seafood products. Our "Hand Shucked" Breaded Clam Strips are sold to many top national restaurant chains and retailers. In addition to our company brands, we are proud to pack private label products.

LaMonica Fine Foods stands for unsurpassed Quality, Innovation and Customer
Responsiveness. Family tradition has driven the way that we do business. Our commitment to quality remains as strong today as the day the company was formed.

Was a previous top management food safety employee. Terrible company. Lots of staffing and food safety problems. The company using tide laundry detergent to clean their equipment and food contact surfaces. Company was using paper towels to wipe down food contact surfaces, rather than fully clean them. Company had their food safety certification suspended because of so many food safety issues. The employee turn over is so bad the company produces a daily report with an average of 7 terminated and/or resigned individuals. Very poor lower-level employee pay, attendance, and turn over. Company staffs employees from drug rehab and prison programs. Criminal behavior from owners. If you do not agree with them, they come after you. Company forged paperwork. Not only should you not work here, I would seriously consider purchasing from an alternate company.
The warehouse and the company itself is very disorganized and not flexible with schedule hours. They make you work at a certain speed in the warehouse. when cleaning up, they do not give you the correct P.P.E. to protect yourself while cleaning. What’s worse, they make you feel guilty for using the restroom. Their sea food is not worth it when treating employees this way.
Wanted to share my experience at La Monica Fine Foods as an employee for 7 years November of 2021, The company is a great place to be employed at if you want a stable place to work for the rest of your life. In the plant area, there is always an opportunity to move up in ranks if you are willing to put in the time and effort, they are more than happy to make that happen. There is good pay, benefits, 401 K, and plenty work available if you want it. I am very happy to have a job here at La Monica, and anyone looking for a job should come check it out.
I called and left 2 messages on different days. There is no use by date on the can of clams,,guess i have to throw it out,,they never called me back.
Bought 2 of your 6.5 oz cans of chopped clams. After draining the juice there was 3 oz of actual clam pieces out of 13 oz. This is just a rip-off. And to top it off the company actually said there was 3 servings per can. Out 1 1/2 oz of chopped clams.?? Who are they trying to kid? I will make a point to never buy this product again.
Great place to work at , and overall great Products red clam Sauce is the beat i ever had.
As a former NJ resident...I miss clams...Miss them here in NJ. Was so happy to find the chopped clams at Dollar Tree...worth it...over and over again...love them..Thank you.

I opened a can of clams and it smelled and there was about 1 oz. of clams. The can said: Serving 3, what a joke. I trashed it and washed my utensils. Terrible!
