Delicious, cheap, local food! Got a tamale, tacos ask for onions, cilantro, and lemons with it when you get to the register, and beans + rice and everything was top notch : Fair warning: when we arrived, there was a line and we were waiting for ~30 minutes or so. As far as I can tell, there is always a line - but the food is definitely worth the wait! Hope to be in the area again to get some tacos and beans soon!
Always a pleasure to come here !! The food is amazing, and the price you can’t beat!! Highly recommend. Authentic delicious Mexican food I went around 11 and there was a short line that moved fast. There will always be a line so be prepared! Worth the wait though. Cash only. I park at the park and walk over it’s not too far from there. Also you HAVE to get their handmade tortillas they are sooo good!!
If you want real southwest US Mexican food, this is the place. Reminds me of my grandmother's home made food. Handmade tortillas are unbelievably good. Tacos are perfect as are the beans. Also a bargain. We ordered two meals, with a bottled water and a soda for $15!Food: 5/5
Simple and authentic. It's worth coming to if you don't have an abuelita to make all of this from scratch at home. What they call rolled tacos, I know as flautas. Although the line outside can be long, you get served your food immediately as you enter straight from the kitchen.
Waited less than an hour but you get your food immediately. Food was great, tasted authentic. If you want menudo, go early. They sell out in a few hours. Flour tortillas were fresh and warm. I had rolled tacos and they were amazing! The salsa they give you is SUPER spicy, so beware! My friends had the chorizo con huevos and the tamales with rice and beans. We also took home a bag of a dozen tortillas and made a breakfast burrito the next day with them. Oh so good!
Came here for tacos on a recommendation. There was a line going out the door and down the street, which it took about 30 minutes to get to the front. You order from their simple menu and they make it right there in front of you before paying. It is CASH ONLY, so ensure you're carrying at least $10. Abuela was working the register with the help of a tia. Other tias were the cooks. I ordered pork tacos in corn tortilla shells and loaded with the usual. The taco was really delicious and juicy. There are multiple areas to sit if you want to eat in, or you can take away you order. I would definitely come back again.
It's funny seeing all these people review this place as if they have grown with authentic Mexican food. This isn't your American-washed "taco shop." There is no hot "sauce" here, it's SALSA. Nothing here is appropiated it is all authentic and fresh. Definitely worth the wait if you know what you're getting if not you should definitely stick to your white-washed taco shops and Cali burritos if that's what meets your standards in taste. Worth every penny and every second you wait in line.
A Culinary Pulp Fiction: Unforgettable Mexican Flavors Once upon a time in San Diego, I stumbled upon an unassuming Mexican joint that changed my life – Las Cuatro Milpas. This legendary eatery, serving up a symphony of flavors since 1933, left me breathless with its tantalizing taste explosions. Entering Las Cuatro Milpas felt like walking onto a Quentin Tarantino movie set, full of drama, humor, and pure deliciousness. The walls whispered decades of culinary mastery through their vintage Mexican artwork. As I approached the counter, the menu dared me to choose between tacos, burritos, and tamales, each calling my name. Each dish was crafted with meticulous attention to detail, like a Tarantino screenplay. The tortillas, handcrafted with precision, wrapped around perfectly seasoned meats, creating a harmonious dance of flavors. The beans and rice were no mere sidekicks, but the Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta of Mexican fare, holding their own and stealing the spotlight. And the hot sauce – it transformed the already mind-blowing experience into an adrenaline-fueled, action-packed ride. If you find yourself in San Diego, craving a meal that'll leave you breathless and wide-eyed, make your way down to 1857 Logan Ave. Be prepared for the whirlwind of drama, humor, and pure Mexican deliciousness that awaits you at Las Cuatro Milpas. Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcomed here. Parking: I found parking no problem.
San Diego classic. If you live here and haven't been, yet, maybe you should move to Arkansas. This place is bare bones and hasn't changed in decades, and if it did, it would lose its appeal! The food is so fresh because they sell a ton of it every day. For all those saying this doesn't taste like Mexican food, get a grip. This is as authentic as it gets. Try ordering a pizza in Modena or Chinese food in Guangzhou. It won't be Domino's or Panda Express. Don't be shocked when you see the line down the sidewalk; I bet my coworker we would be inside ordering in 15 minutes and finished eating by 35 minutes from the time we got in line and it was exactly that. Bring cash only, each meal will be under $10 if you add a drink. I always order a dozen tortillas to go; it's such a treat at our house; just warm them a little and butter them up, pure heaven!
Great prices for a great amount of food. It is a fantastic amount for the money too There was a line even at 7 am but it was not onerous of a wait.
