The Las Vegas Wash is the final link in the Las Vegas Valley's water supply, carrying more than 200 million gallons of water a day to Lake Mead. It is an "urban river," made up of urban runoff, shallow groundwater, reclaimed water, and stormwater.
When the population in Southern Nevada grew, the Wash paid the price, putting the plants and animals living there at risk.
Because of the Wash’s importance to the environment and water resources of Southern Nevada, the 29-member Las Vegas Wash Coordination Committee was formed to protect it.
