How Does the Laser Reduce Hair?
The light from the laser is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle and this energy is converted to heat which results in thermal damage to the hair follicle. As hair in the active stage of growth contains higher amounts of pigmentation, actively growing hair is more likely to respond than hair in the other stages of growth. For some treated hair follicles, delayed regrowth of hair may occur instead of permanent destruction, while it is possible that your hair may not respond at all. Treated hair that does grow back is usually thinner and lighter.
Does it Hurt?
Clients will likely feel a tingling, stinging or snapping sensation, and while some areas of the body are more sensitive than others, most people tolerate the procedure well. Clients will agree to advise me during procedure as to the degree of discomfort they may experience and to allow me to make adjustments as needed in my effort to achieve a safe and effective treatment without undesirable side effects. From my personal experience, it just felt like a pinch.
