What are semi permanent eyelash extensions?
Semi-permanent eyelash extensions are perfect for giving you fuller, curvier and longer lashes. Semi-permanent eyelash extensions are applied carefully and one by one whilst isolating each individual eyelash with tweezers and following the natural line of the eye. Eyelash extensions are not strip-lashes or three pronged, cluster lashes. They are individual, synthetic mink lashes that look just like your own natural lash hairs. Eyelash extensions take approximately 2-3 hours to apply for the first time and are a full set.
How Long Will They Last?
Eyelash extensions are semi permanent and the permanence is dependent on the client following strict after-care advice at home, if looked after carefully eyelash extensions can give you 3 weeks maintenance free eyelash extensions, however “in-fills” are required every two - three weeks. The human eyelash grows between 7mm and 9mm in length, growing for 30 days and resting for 60 days, after this they start to naturally fall out, and a new growth cycle begin. In order to keep your lash extensions full and looking great, simple maintenance or “in-fill” appointments are required typically every 2-3 weeks and only take 45 - 60 minutes. So, if you want great looking lashes all the time in-fills are necessary because, like your fingernails and the hair on your head, your individual eyelashes grow out on a continuous cycle of replenishment.
Will your natural lashes get harmed or damaged?
The biggest myth is that lash extensions ruin your own lashes. They do not. If applied correctly and properly, they are safe and do not ruin the health of your natural lashes. Be sure not to rub your eyes or tug or pull on the extensions because this can cause lash loss and even damage to your natural lashes. If lashes are applied properly and to each individual lash, they won’t fall out.
Can you shower or swim right away? Are there products you should absolutely avoid?
Keep water away from your lashes for the first 12 to 24 hours after application or touch-ups. Water can weaken the adhesive before it is set and cause lashes to fall off. The after-care varies depending on the glue used. For instance, with glue for sensitive eyes, oil-based products or makeup removers around the eye area are not recommended. Using water-proof mascara on the extensions is not recommended for any type of glue, as it is hard to remove and can actually pull off the lashes prematurely when trying to take it off.
Is it okay to also wear mascara?
If you are planning to wear mascara in addition to the extensions, only use it on the tips of the extensions and with a very light hand. This will be enough to give your eyes that "pop" along with the extensions. Using mascara at the base of the extensions will get very clumpy.
What do I need to do before my appointment?
Remove all eye makeup; be sure not to use oil based makeup removers or cleansers to clean your lashes prior to the application.
