Lathrup Village Police Department

Never had a problem with the police department ever! Recently went to a lovey pre-thanksgiving dinner meet and greet. Felt very comfortable and the police department was very diverse. Feel very safe to live in the community as a police officers are actually seen doing their rounds or checking our neighborhood streets. Stay safe officers and keep up the good work.

I bike around and Pokemon Go here regularly. Been there even late night past 12 midnight on several occasions. The officers are very nice and will stop to chat and ask if you've seen any rare pokemon lately ^_^ Behave yourself and you shouldn't have any problems playing late at night.

If you have not heard, the City has just been served with a class action discrimination lawsuit brought by three police officers. They say that the Interim Police Chief Scott Mckee has discriminated against them because of age and race. One of the police officers also gives information regarding Mckee and former Chief Armstrong discriminating against female police applicants. According to officers within the ranks, Mckee and Armstrong would take applications from female officers, make them go through the entire background phase of the application process never having any intention of hiring any of the females that ever applied. If you're not familiar with the process to become a police officer, it can take months and is very time consuming. Other officers claim they were pushed out of the department because of their age and race. According to the case filed in Federal Court, an African American officer says he was fired by Scott Mckee one week before he was to take an oral exam for a promotion to Seargent. The officer claims the firing was purely racial and the charges surrounding the firing were made up. Think it's far fetched? Well the arbitrator didn't and gave the officer his job back with full back pay. The arbitrator ordered Lathrup Village to give him the promotional exam, which he passed. Do you think the black officer has been promoted to Seargent? Not a chance in Lathrup with Scott Mckee in charge. The city now claims that they don't have money in the budget to promote the officer. Well of course not after the city treasurer Pam Bratschi gave herself a 25% raise. The ghost of Louise Lathrup is alive and well in the city halls of Lathrup Village. That's right, the city treasurer Pam Bratschi took over as Interim City Manager in June of 2016. She immediately gave herself a 25% raise for doing the job of City Manager. Well when the city hired a new City Manager, she continued to pay herself the extra money. When she was back to her original position of city treasurer, she actually had the balls to tell the African American officer who is part of the class action lawsuit that the city did not have money in the budget to promote him. While other employees of the city had to fight for a 3 or 5% raise, Pam Bratschi took a 25% raise and kept paying herself long after she was not doing the city manager job any longer. That was actually one of Potter's issues with the city, he claimed that Bratschi should not be paying herself the extra money- and he was right! for once But as soon as Potter made those claims, he was accused of sexual harassment. Potter was in over his head with this position and everyone knows it, however it does not change the fact that ghost of Louise Lathrup Kelley somehow took possession of Pam Bratschi when she discriminated against the black police officer who was simply trying to further his career. The irony is that now Bratschi is again the Interim City Manager and is still paying herself that fat bonus. It's the ghost, it's not Pam's fault right? Why would they hire and even promote another officer who is white that has a record of domestic violence and who is married and he meets up with other females while on duty, maybe we should ask Sergeant Mike Zang. The case is public, ask for a copy of it from the court. So in many ways, Lathrup Village has never changed. It's simple, Interim Police Chief Scott Mckee is grasping at whatever he can to keep his hopes of becoming the permanent police chief alive. Even though, he's the center of a full blown class action discrimination lawsuit that was filed in Federal Court, all he wants in life to become the top cop in Lathrup Village. In most other police department's, he would have been fired a long time ago, but Mckee still survives as the Interim Police Chief. Even though he's been accused of various civil and criminal crimes and has actually been fired in the late 1990's for taking evidence belonging to an incarcerated person from Lathrup Village, he still survives.
