Overall 4.5: Food 4.5; Dishes were tasty. Suggest having kids order from the main menu. Our go-to staple dishes, Mixto added their own unique spin to it. Service 5; Server was very personable and attentive. Atmosphere 4; Liked new decor. Suggest changing how the bathroom door closes or add a partition. Also was shocked to see automatic gratuity added for parties of 6 or more but pleased that it was less than what we'd normally tip. We'll be back for the crispy calamari and to try the ceviches.
New Peruvian Latin restaurant in the Sunset. We tired the ceviche chino which was quite good. We also had the steak salad and fish tacos which was okay. Service was nice and would come back again. Pro tip: they have a kids menu. Kid-friendliness: Kids menu
So happy to have tried this place. The food is "da bomb". The flavors are all there and the restaurant is new, clean and simple. The plates are very charming, and there is so much food to try. What we got was Birria Tacos and Mariscada with some not too sweet sangria. Franco's Latin Table, you got some serious competition!Food: 5/5
Cozy neighborhood spot that recently opened. They have another location on West Portal as well. We were given chips and salsa upon sitting. Both were tasty and the chips were nicely crunchy. Some dishes I would recommend: • Ceviche Mixto - great mix of fresh seafood with a nice lime flavor • Birria Tacos - tender meat with tons of flavor inside a consomme drenched shell • Chicharon de Pollo - flavorful chicken with a delicious dipping sauce • Platano Frito - sweet and delicious, perfectly cooked plantains Service is great and staff is friendly! A great addition to the area. Would also recommend the sangria, or if you're not into alcohol, the chica morada corn cider is really delicious!
The food was great! We ordered way too much food, but surprisingly very little was left over..a testament to how motivated we were to keep eating it tasted sooo good. Anna, our server, was great and guided us through the menu since this was our first time and Mixto has only been open for 6 weeks. What a great addition to the neighborhood! Highly recommend!
Had the ceviche and yuka fries. Really well done. Big chunks of fresh fish. People were nice in there too. You could take a date here. I think this is a relatively new spot in Sunset? I hope they do well!Food: 5/5
Mixto was a very very good meal. I'm a tough critic so I save 5-stars for truly out of this world experiences but if I could, Mixto deserves 4.5 stars. The flavor profiles were really unique and no dish tasted similar nor shared sauces. The sauces were all very well balanced, some spicy, some tangy, some rich. We ordered the ceviche clasico. The fish were big and I appreciated the lime-liness of the sauce although my wife said it was too much. The tacos birrias were very good 3 large tacos. The lomo saltado was delicious although my wife thought it was too salty; however I think the saltiness worked well with this dish. We also ordered the adobo which was the biggest surprise; the meat was tender with just the right amount of fattiness. I would highly recommend this casual, fun spot. The service wasn't bad, just small hiccups eg taking empty water pitcher.. but not refilling it; taking small eating dishes away.. but not providing fresh plates..
Delicious Peruvian food. We had Lomo Saltado, Mariscada and Aji de Gallina. The seafood stew and Lomo Saltado were very delicious and portions big. The purple corn cider was a good non- alcoholic beverage to match.Food: 5/5
Tried this place on a whim while visiting San Francisco. The huevos rancheros were amazing!!! The other dishes we ordered were chicken fajitas, the Franco's burger, and the picarones con pollo. They were all delicious!! They have a kids menu, also, which was a plus since we were traveling with a 5 year old. Highly recommend this place!
The chicharron was fire, hands down. The chino ceviche was disappointing - drenched in soy with little to latch onto for texture outside of wonton chips. And while my partner enjoyed her lomo saltado, was hard to recover momentum once we learned they don’t serve pisco sours. I understand the limitations of not having a liquor license. But how about a mocktail? Hard to justify a return trip.
