The Laurel Historical Society was founded in 1977. Both the Cook House, which serves as a museum and headquarters for the Historical Society, and the Laurel Heritage Museum are open to the public, and staffed by members, year round on the first Sunday of each month from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. In addition, access to the Laurel Heritage Museum is usually accessible through the offices of the Laurel Chamber of Commerce, generally open M-F 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. Each are available at other times by appointment. The Cook House is located at 502 E. 4th Street, Laurel DE and The Heritage Museum is located at 215 Mechanic Street, Laurel Delaware.
