I've read good things about Laurel Hill State Park and I was not disappointed. Enjoyed the hiking trails, the abundant trees and the scenery. It will make a good trip in the Autumn with the changing of the leaves. There is a camping area though I didn't check it out. There is also a good sized beach at the 63 acre lake. Electric motors only. People enjoying kayaking and paddle boating. Lots of places to picnic. Great day at this park nestled in the hills of Somerset County. Make sure to check out Jones Mill Run Dam. As with other state parks you can find maps and information at the park offices. I will return to check out more features and visit other parks that cover this area. Restrooms: Probably the nicest bathrooms I've seen at a state park. Well maintained. Picnic area: Many tables at the beach area and I saw others scattered around the park.
Last minute trip on Memorial Day weekend and we were lucky enough to get a spot at the campground. Very quiet and serene campground. Fairly clean but basic bathroom/shower rooms. The sites were a little close but adequate. The beach was amazing. Long, very clean and well marked with access to volleyball, kayak launch, swimming and fishing. Many great spots to have a picnic for 2 or a picnic for 50. The hiking trails were nice and easily manageable for novice hikers. But many off trails for the more experienced. The Jones Mill Run trail and waterfall was awesome. The pups had the time of their life! Dog-friendliness: Great place to take your pups. Especially the trails to the waterfall.
This is one of my favorite PA State Parks. 15 miles of hiking trails from easy to difficult. Nice beach. Beautiful campground. Restrooms: Very clean Picnic area: Nice pavilions and smaller shaded picnic areas.
Beautiful park with so many trails! Definitely need to see the dam and enjoy the water sounds. Easy to find, very clean, and a great place for hiking or walking!
I love this park so much. Twice I've been here, both times in August and, while it's hot and muggy, you just can't capture how beautiful it is in photos.i still try. Highly recommend!
Went for the annual bluegrass festival. It's been several years since I attended, and it's grown! Great time, good music. Take lawn chairs and blankets, and easy-ups were allowed.
Really nice place. The beach is long and there's a lot of places for grilling and picnics. Kayak & bike rentals are reasonable. The water does get muddy when rain makes the creek flow heavy but otherwise the water is really nice. Restrooms: Multiple restrooms across the park. Dog-friendliness: Very open with lots of space and diff trails to walk. Can walk trails around the entire lake without much difficulty. Picnic area: Many many picnic tables with grills.
Beautiful low-key park. It's a hidden gem. The campground is nice, sites are spacious, and no golf carts are driving around! I've been to several campgrounds where you can't ride your bike after dark, but those damn carts with flashing lights and loud music can speed all around.
Just spent a full week here and still didn't cover all the wonderful trails. NOT crowded or loud. VERY hilly, so bikers beware. GORGEOUS and LARGE beach on a cool spring fed dam made lake within a quick bike ride of the campsites. A half hour drive from lots of other attractions. Would definitely go again!
Went for a hike in June I used Alltrails app to go for Pump house trail loop It was 6 miles hike, one of the beat i ever had. It had lot of different views starting form the Big trees, the small river and bushes all around and the waterfall and it ends at the lake which is great to finish and enjoy the view The only thing i hated was the bugs there were lot of flying insects
