Laurelhurst Theater

About

The theater's four screens bring you the best of modern cinema, independent, art and classics films to Portland's movie lovers.

Description

The Laurelhurst Theater became part of Portland's cultural and architectural history when it first opened in 1923. The original single screen could seat 650 people and was one of the first art deco style theaters of the period. Over the years the Laurelhurst has been added onto and now offers four auditoriums with modern amenities but still maintains its classic appeal. Now celebrating our 12th year as a theater and pub. Thank you Portland!

Awesome local theater! Great prices on tickets, snacks and drinks. The beer & popcorn combo is a good deal and there’s even a vegan pizza slice option! I also really appreciate that they have a free water station. Seats were comfy, minimal movie previews, and video/sound quality on the movie was good. Only con is that parking is pretty difficult in this neighborhood, so just plan ahead and give yourself a few extra minutes.
I visited locally from Vancouver WA as this theater was playing a smaller indie film that I really wanted to check out. I loved the whole aesthetic of this theater. Great popcorn. Comfortable seats! I will for sure be coming back.
Love this 100 year old theater. We saw a first run on opening day for 10 bucks. The snack line was long but the popcorn was tasty and worth the wait.
Why is there a tipping option at a MOVIE THEATER? There is no service provided that is adequate for tipping. Asked for a tip for literally popcorn? When none was received, the cashier said sarcastically “thanks for your generosity” He literally handed me a bag of popcorn. Your OLCC means nothing to me as I did not order a drink. Get a grip and pay your employees more if you want them to make more money. Stop putting it on your customers to pay them living wages. Ridiculous. Edit: interesting how you choose to respond to the service complaint but let me make it clear to you: YOU should be paying your workers more if they’re doing all this for customers. That is my point. YOU are creating an environment in which your employees feel obligated to be tipped for handing out a bag of popcorn. You are responsible for their paychecks. Not your customers.
Great local theater. Pizza and wine for sale too. Matinee pricing is good
Great historical place. Prices are affordable, staff friendly, good beer selection and pizza. Choose a seat with a table if you plan on eating or drinking. Enjoy
...this is the best neighborhood theater ever...chill, good movies, good peeps, good beer, always cool***
One of the better independent cinemas in Portland. Affordable tickets on first run films. Pizza by the slice, popcorn by the bag. Wine and beer and soda. We usually round out the night by taking pics in their classic Photo booth. Staff are consistently delightful.
I recently went to the Laurelhurst movie theater to see Scream VI and it was an awesome experience! The theater had great seats that were comfortable and provided a great view of the screen. The atmosphere was perfect for watching a horror movie, with just the right amount of lighting and sound to keep me on the edge of my seat. One thing I really appreciated was the food options. The prices were reasonable and they even had a vegan pizza slice available, which was a pleasant surprise! This place is great for a date! What more could you want :D!!
Great food, amazing price $6 matinee!?, staff, screen, sound. Close to bikeway. Really perfect theater. Not sure why I haven't been going with my kids more often! Only feedback is you need more bike racks.
