Lavelle Real Estate, Inc. is a full service firm offering real estate sales; property management (subsidized and non-subsidized); appraisals; property and casualty insurance.
Lavelle Real Estate, Inc. was incorporated January 13, 1969 as an outgrowth of Robert R. Lavelle Real Estate, a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania licensed real estate broker as of August 2, 1951. We are now celebrating our 60th year of continuous operation.
Lavelle Real Estate, Inc. is a member of all Realtor Associations – National, State, and Local; and a member of West Penn Multi-List.
Lavelle Real Estate, Inc. is 100% African American owned business. Upon obtaining the Pennsylvania real estate broker’s license, Robert R. Lavelle opened his office in the Hill District. His wife, Adah M. Lavelle joined the business at it’s opening.
Soon after opening his office, Robert R. Lavelle joined the Pittsburgh Real Estate Board (as it was then called) and served on several committees of the Board. Despite submitting several applications to join, Robert R. Lavelle was denied the opportunity to join the Pittsburgh Multi-List group of Realtors. At that time Multi-List groups controlled approximately 80% of the real estate sales in the country. Robert R. Lavelle sued in Federal Court under the Sherman Anti-Trust Act, Restraint of Trade Provisions for access in April, 1967. After five pre-trial conferences in Federal Court the Pittsburgh Multi-List capitulated and admitted Robert R. Lavelle to membership on October 4, 1968. This set a precedent for the entire country.
The company was owned and operated by the founders until year end, 2007. Since January 1, 2008, the business is owned and operated by Robert M. and Phillis D. Lavelle. Phillis D. Lavelle serves as Broker of Record. We welcome the opportunity to help others with their real estate related needs and desires.
