Concentrating in Litigation, Criminal Defense and Family Law
Attorney Kristine Shaw has been practicing in Ithaca, New York since 2002. She graduated from Cornell Law School in 2001, and has a Bachelors in Social Work from SUNY Brockport. Kristine has concentrated her practice on criminal defense and family law. Before working as an attorney Kristine worked in the human services field with individuals with disabilities and worked with the Cornell Law School's Gender, Sexuality and Family Project.
Kristine is proud of her participation in the Tompkins County Assigned Counsel Panel, her work as an Attorney for Children and as a Guardian ad Litem. She is a long time member of the Assigned Counsel Panel and volunteers as a mentor for new attorneys joining the panel.
Kristine is not afraid of controversial cases or issues, and represents individuals in criminal cases ranging from major felonies to traffic violations. In Family Court she represents youth in juvenile delinquency and persons in need of supervision cases, and represents parents and children in custody, support, and neglect proceedings. She has worked with all of the specialty courts in Tompkins County, including Integrated Domestic Violence Court, the Ithaca Community Treatment Court and Tompkins County Sex Offender Compliance Court. She appears in Tompkins, Cortland, Tioga, Chemung, Schuyler and other upstate county, city, town and village courts.
Kristine also has served on the Tompkins County Environmental Management Committee, the Conservation Board for the Town of Ithaca, and currently serves on the Tompkins County Advisory Board on Indigent Representation.
