Honestly the prosecutors are awful. There’s no good pleas. Why is anyone having to do jail time or being threatened with it for TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS. I’m sorry does Lawrence just like putting people in jail? The cops and the court system are awful here even worse than Florida where I came from. And the only person of color they have working here is the interpreter. Just a bunch of old white people determining your future as per usual.
Do not get your fingerprints taken here, instead go to the Sheriff's Office down the street where the service is free. The Municiple Court is inept and irresponsible because they do not give you a tracking number for your fingerprints, and they do not warn you that you will not get back your fingerprints or that you must prepay for tracking via USPS. They only tell you to bring an envelope with four stamps on it. Should you not prepay for tracking at USPS because you're under the assumption either they will provide you with such tracking or you will mail it yourself your fingerprints are essentially lost, and the Municipal Court will refuse to take responsibility and refuse to help you.
I came to use their fingerprinting services to start a new job. I've been three different times and so far still haven't been able to get fingerprinted due to irregular hours, even after taking off from work. Thankfully my employer has been accommodating or I may have been at risk of losing my new job.
I brought a friend with me to visit the tourist Boulevard where all the shops are, a few years ago. I parked and put a few quarters into the meter. Less than 10 minutes later we decided to move the car up a block. When we got to the car, there was a citation for the meter running out, on my windshield. I looked at the meter and it showed I still had lots of time left as I expected. Then I noticed all the cars on either side of me had citations, too!. I tried looking around for the ticket cop and gave up. When i got the citation home, I couldn't find a way to call them. Because i didn't want to take the chance of getting in any legal trouble, I put the two bucks in the envelope and mailed it. This was deliberate and blatant FRAUD! I quickly realized that they must do this all the time . They know that people won't have a huge problem sticking $2.00 into the envelope and dropping it in a mailbox, but when I think about them doing this all the time, this is massive $$$. I will NEVER go to Lawrence to visit again. Ever. The people that work in these courts are running a racket like criminals. What this court is doing is FRAUD! They do it because they CAN. They might as well be the Mafia.
I have emailed my attorney twice about my upcoming appearance and I still have not received an email back, this is ridiculous!!!
Laura is a very rude & extremely unprofessional prosecutor! If anyone else is there go them!
Prosecutors aren't trying to ruin your life. Many worse places to be in trouble.
