NOPE! I've been a patient here for decades. This place used to be great or maybe I just didn't know better because I didn't have medical concerns in my younger years. But I'm a senior now and I will not go back to Loyola. 5 years ago I started having pain and swelling in my neck and hands. I was prescribed drugs. Went back because the drug was only temp and stopped working. I was prescribed a different drug. Didn't work. I did this 5 times. All the veteran doctors I saw didn't have a clue. The symptoms I was having have been my mantra for the last five years. Veteran doctor after veteran doctor NONE OF THEM could figure it out. Then came a young new specialty doctor. Saw him once. He asked me questions and guess what? HE LISTENED AND HEARD ME! He ordered one test. And the results.....? Carpal tunnel. WHAAAAAAT????? What a common issue to not have been thought of by MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS!!!! My only worry is that the lack of care and diagnosis has done permanent damage to my wrist. Wonder what I can do with this.....
The Cardiovascular Department here at Loyola is outstanding. Both the doctors and the nurses were excellent during my overnight stay. I was extremely impressed with the service. My surgery was successful and everything went as planned. The only thing I don't like is the price of parking. That is a little bit ridiculous. They would have gotten 5 stars if I didn't have to pay to park.
1st I want to Thank all the staff that showed up to work! I waited 6 hrs with my loved in the waiting room to be called in. When we checked in, we checked in for chest pain. The wait time was ridiculous. After we saw the triage nurse. We were told there were patients that have been waiting 4 hours for a bed. Well, we waited 6 hrs for a bed. When we walked in. All beds were not taken so I’m assuming they are understaffed. Hopefully they can get more drs and nurses to work in the ER to make wait time way less than 4-6 hrs. As someone mentioned. They need to do some deep cleaning on their floors. The floors were really dirty.
Hello I came into the hospital today at 9am due to a hit and run and injuries to the leg , I am currently still here at the hospital at 5:17pm, I’ve already had my x ray and I called over the phone to see what was the hold up and they told me that there was nothing wrong with my leg everything came out good and I continued to mention if I could get a doctors note and go since the information has been giving to me over the phone and I was told no and the hold up was that my case was not that serious compared to others so I will have to wait until the doctor discharges me, Not to mention that I came in and it was only two people in the waiting area with me and the people who came after me has come and gone , I am very upset about this situation at this hospital and on top of that the employees have bad communication skills! I just really need for the doctor to see me so I can go back to work since they have already told me that there is nothing wrong with me and I am fine I need to be discharged !
I do not recommend this hospital if you need surgery. I was expecting to be put in a room while I was prepped for surgery, instead I was placed in an area where all the other patients are at waiting for surgery. After surgery, I thought I would then be put in my own room. Nope same thing placed in an area where all the post op patients go there was no privacy at all and the wait for a room was 5 + hours. The staff was ok. Lastly, there is no such thing as caring for a patient here. When you finally get a room, you could possibly share it with another patient and if the spare bed was used prior, they come in at 3 AM To clean that side, change sheets and prep for the next patient. How is someone supposed to get rest after surgery when the lights are on and all this noise is being made? Next time I’m sticking to Edward hospital!!
I have been a patient here for a few years. I am a patient in the Cancer center. I visited the ER this evening because I was having trouble breathing and have what seems to be some sort of Respiratory virus. I arrived at 1pm and at 9pm was still waiting to be seen. The ER is absolutely disgusting and filthy! Staff was rude and not at all helpful. I was taken to triage for vitals and an RSV and Strep swab with im sure my insurance will be billed extensively for and that was it. I kept asking after several hours how much longer and was repeatedly told that other people were coming in in worse condition and my place in line was being bumped. After 8 hours of waiting I was then told a “ Trauma” arrived and the ER was now on hold. All the while the entire staff was outside being nosey while a gentleman was being asked to leave the hospital. Oh and the vending machine was eating everyone’s money. I’d give 0 stars if I could. Pitiful and sad and basically you have better luck waiting at home until you need an ambulance to bring you in.
If I can l would leave this hospital zero star. Took me 3 years to be able to speak about my experience with this hospital and specially birthing center. I had my first baby at this hospital 3 years ago, they induced me 5 days prior my due date without any medical complication. I had very healthy pregnancy, their midwife was forcing me to be induced for some reason I even don't know to this day. I was almost 3 days in this hospital trying to give birth, when I finally lost all my strength and fainted from pushing few times. They took me to emergency C section where I found out later that my daughters head was tilted in my pelvis, her heart rate was slowing down. I could possibly suffocate my child by pushing, she had big bruise on her forehead no one answered from doctors and nurses on my questions why she have the bruise. She swallowed a lot of water and needed to be under the light for 24 hours. Thank God that she was okay at the end. My epidural wasn't successful I felt everything on my right side from cutting me. To this day I a have back pain because they gave new young Anesthesiologist to preform epidural on me. If I didn't have my husband with me in surgery room they would probably continue. When he screamed at them that I still feel everything on my right side that's when they gave me additional anesthesia where I fell asleep and woke up after they were done with stitching. Doctors and nurses I cant remember that I met 1 person nice and polite those 3 days. If you have opportunity to have your baby in any other hospital Hinsdale or Elmhurst my 2nd C section amazing, laughing while having my boy highly, highly recommend you to go there. Avoid Loyola Hospital and their ER at any cost.
The most horrible hospital ever!!! The care is horrible! Sat in an emergency room for 10 hours with my dehydrated, horribly inflamed husband before getting taking care, after specifically being told to take him in to the er and a charge nurse was aware of his condition and that he was being brought in. After 23 hours in the er he was finally admitted, it took days before he would know his plan of care.. I even called trying to talk to a nurse and she was short answered with an attitude and the answer for everything I was asking about my husbands care was I can’t really say at this moment. My poor husband couldn’t even get a cup of water for hours!! Hours!!! For a simple cup of water and even had a nurse call saw his call light on and say oh did you need something? yes my cup of water I asked for 3 hours ago! When his meals get delivered to his room they don’t bother knocking or letting him know it’s there they simply leave it outside the room and By the time someone notices it’s already cold or his frozen stuff is completely melted. Very disappointed and frustrated with how my husband was cared for. We will most definitely never be back here again.
I was seen today at Loyola for a orthopedic appointment. It was clear that there were three of us booked for an 8:00am appointment, and that we were the first appointments for the doctor. Even though I checked in first, I was the last to be seen. How do these medical facilities keep getting away with triple booking appointments??? They have absolutely no concern for the patient’s time!!! I have seen this done repeatedly here at Loyola!!! I don’t know what to do except complain and then maybe one day someone will do something??
Horrible way to run a hospital. I came for some blood work and according to the website they closed at 5:00. When I showed up at 4:35 after leaving work early to get this done, I was told they closed at 4:30. When I mention the website saying 5 o’clock, they pointed to a paper taped to the service window that said 4:30. The second time I showed up at 6 o’clock in the morning, as that is the time I was told they opened up, this time we were told that the 2 persons drawing blood this morning were running about 30 minutes late because they were stuck by a train. Nonexistent customer service at this hospital. I am seriously considering looking into better alternatives.
