If I could give this Pathetic excuse for a courthouse no stars I would. Extremely rude staff, No one seems to want to help you or know what they are doing.
Staff here are of typical Lebanon attitude: Rude, Unfriendly, Bothered by your very existence. Don't expect much here if you want to get anything done.
Went to go in person to get a marriage certificate you need an appointment, which is fine. My problem comes in with the staff, they are rude and short with you. I don’t appreciate being talked to rudely or matter of fact as if I was trained to do their jobs. In fact we have to pay fees for several services and their attitudes are uncalled for even over the phone when scheduling an appointment. The only nice person I spoke with was Brian. If you’re unhappy with your job then get a new one.
Needed to file paperwork in the Register of Wills / Orphans Court today. The person who helped me was utterly delightful -- warm, personable, professional and kind. The PA turnpike was backed up so my trip to Lebanon from West Chester took triple the time. I was a tad frazzled from the traffic jams when I reached the Courthouse. Luckily, I arrived exactly on time for my appointment without a minute to spare. It's time for bed now and I am still feeling thankful. Today's experience makes me want to take more cases in Lebanon County.
My 18 year old son tried to register to vote online but his application was not accepted because the system wouldn't recognize his pa driver's license so he completed a hard copy application. Since it was the weekend we didn't think his application would be received by the Oct 19th cutoff. So we came to the courthouse to drop off the application. 2 hours later we are still in line trying to get into the voter registration to simply drop off his application. They are only letting 4 people go in at a time. Really? Just to drop off an application? Ridiculous!
The children and youth office in this building are completely useless. They do NOT care about the children. They seem to only be working for a paycheck. Even with proof of neglect and abuse they give warnings when they go out to make a visit. They have also gave warning that they will be checking the kid out for any abuse 3 WEEKS after the report was made which gives enough time for marks to go away, and enough time for the parent to scare the kid into lying. Not only that, the advice they give to the parent that is doing the abuse is ridiculous. Go to the police station and file for a restraining order on the one that keeps calling children and youth... YOU SHOULD BE DOING A THOROUGH INVESTIGATION...then maybe we wouldn't have to call all the time!!!!
Hard to go during a weekday with the short hours. Did some paperwork here and staff was mostly accommodating. Passport office was a little difficult to deal with, person helping me knew less then I did.
If your self-employed and have child support. They only look at gross income. Im going out Business because I cant afford to run it now. They only look at 1 kid, so if you more then one, they dont count. Try working with them to afford everything, forget! They dont need to hear it nor they care. None of your expensive to run your business counted not even taxes you have to pay. I drive a truck over the road and I can only illegal work 70hrs a week no madder the job because my cdl driving hours pre d.o.ts laws. My truck needs fuel, maintenance, road taxes, primits, equipment for loads, tolls, phone, computer logs systems. All which well documented with my monthly loss/profit statements. I do quarterly taxes. I need those to run my business to make money but somehow thats not counted. My truck runs for free pre courts. All gross is just pure income. You know what they told me. Get another job!? Not our problem. I cant drive 50 states plus hold a local job... physical impossible. They dont care. Your screwed trying do the right thing. Im pulled away form my kids to pay and now I cant pay because I cant afford to run my truck. Update I talk to a lawyer. Basic she told me the court will do as they want. Everyone trys to claim stuff. I told Im just trying to go off my net not my gross before taxes even. Nope they will choose what they want. Also noted if you have more then one kid they can choose to only view one not view all support. So could end up paying over 50% of all income. There really nothing you can do. Funny thing is neither of us live in pa. He lives in NY and I live in OK. Some how pa courts can choose to over step federal laws in place about over state reaching. I cant get any lawyer to help form any state, all i want is base off my true net so I dont have to close my doors. I always paid that dont mean poop. Talk about a corruption to the core.
Brian was very helpful, working with us to ensure that we get our marriage license in time for our wedding. Despite all the covid-19 issues
I recently visited the courthouse and the entire staff was excellent, from the security screening staff, to the team in the prothonotary office. Thanks for your help.
