LEE COUNTY FIRE and EMERGENCY SERVICES were created on February 12, 2018. The department was created by proclamation of the Lee County Board of Commissioners. The Lee County Board of Commissioners have prepared for this change for five years. Cross-training began in 2013 with the Emergency Medical Service first responders being trained as State certified firefighters with most receiving certifications at the National Level. The Fire Service first responders began training in 2016 for the level of Emergency Medical Technician with all receiving certifications on the National Level. A combined/cross-trained service provides fire protection and medical response from both a fire apparatus and an ambulance. First responders operating these vehicles have extensive knowledge and training in providing fire and medical services. By staffing our vehicles with these cross-trained personnel, this allows our department to deliver a more effective and efficient service to the citizens of Lee County, Ga.
