Leedstown Campground

About

A beautiful campground on the Rappahannock River at Leedstown, Virginia. RV and tent sites with electric and water hookups. Easy access boat ramp on site.

Description

As of April 2015, anglers were catching blue catfish up to 4 pounds from the Rappahannock River in the Leedstown area. Still, fishing is doing well right off of the pier (nice filleting size fish). Last year one of our campers caught a 30 pound catfish while fishing the Rappahannock River. The weather was a little warmer though.

Boat launching is free to our campers. Fees are charged for boat launching to non-campers. You will find an easy access boat ramp and a convenient parking facility at Leedstown Campground on the Rappahannock River.

We had a nice time at this campground over the weekend. It’s small and quiet, and our site had a beautiful view of the river. My husband really enjoyed fishing as well.
Camped here on our way to and from North Carolina in late August. The owner was very helpful and met us there after hours to collect $ and show us our site, which was upgraded to waterfront for free because they weren't full. There are a lot of seasonal campers here. Because school had already started, we had the place almost to ourselves. It was a beautiful site overlooking the river. There are lots of trees and shade, not like many campgrounds where you're just tightly lined up in a sunny field. The price was quite reasonable. There was a fishing pier, and also a tiny beach area that looked like it doesn't see much use. The bath house was pretty bad- not clean and rather run-down. I was a bit nervous about using it and my husband got a foot infection from the shower, even though he wore flip flops. It would be better for campers with bathrooms. The water was hot and lathered well though. Water hookup for the camper was good with no odor or weird taste we do use an in-line filter. When we were there, mosquitos were wicked once the sun started to set, so be prepared with spray. We didn't really spend any time sight seeing because this was just a stop-over for us, but Colonial Beach is nearby and is quite nice. Also there are several nearby historic sites that we have visited in the past. If it wasn't for the bath house, I would have given this place five stars.
We spent two nights while seeing a relative in the area. Very quiet, reasonably priced and our sight was by the water. Brett, the manager was friendly and helpful. Most of the campers here are seasonal but the have a few spots for overnighters. We would definitely come again! Oh and there are eagles flying around on the river!!
Nothing but peace and quiet! Beautiful view of the river, great fishing, and the man who runs it was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable! Very basic campground but just the ticket for a nice get away! Very affordable! Property and buildings are older but very well kept.
Traveling home from my brother in laws funeral, we decided to stay for memorial weekend. The first two days and night were great. Quiet, relaxing but the third day chaos. Screaming children, music blasting so Noone else can hear anything else. Baby running in the main road without supervision. No respect for others
Stunning location on the Rappahannock river where you can swim, boat, fish, or jet ski. Very peaceful, fantastic owners and neighbors. The only reason I couldn’t give 5 stars is that the bathhouse is very dated and not very pleasant - perfect for RVs if you don’t need to use the facilities but don’t expect luxury.
Nice campground. I've been coming here since I was a small child. Always enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, and good fishing. Power and water are available. No sewer hookups but there is a dumpstation. A great place to visit with lots to do in the area.
Absolutely beautiful campground. I came in on a quiet day mid week with no reservation. Frank was very friendly and have me a spot right on the waters edge.
It's a ok place but the second day and night I was there. People across the road had no decency for other campers. Blasting there music all day playing in the road and constant screaming. Then it moved into karaoke until about 11pm.
Water and electric only, many full tim folks here that have full hook up. Nice and quiet, right by river...
