The food and service are high quality. This is one of my favorite Thai and overall restaurants in San Antonio. The pad Thai, drunken noodles and papaya salad are all top notch.
Great and friendly staff that looked like they were over worked during a dinner rush but still managed to provide great service with a friendly and welcoming presence. We ordered the Chicken Soup and Red Chicken Curry spice level 9 and the food couldn't have been better. If you're ever on the fence about trying this place, do not hesitate to give this spot a go, with a friendly staff, excellent food in both presentation and taste and some great prices that help your wallet!
We have been going to Lemongrass for Thai food for over 10 years. We always go at lunch and get the lunch special. Our favorites are the Pad Thai dishes. I always ordered the Shrimp Pad Thai. Before Covid and the most recent inflation costs, I usually got 5-6 good size shrimp and it was very good. A hearty bowl of chicken with rice soup would have lots of chicken and rice....not anymore!! And the prices have not decreased in any way! We are very disappointed in the portions of protein in everything they serve! They are really skimping on everything! After 10 years, the last 3 being this steady decline in portion sizes, we will never go back!
Had the please of dining here yesterday. Food was outstanding. Spring rolls and Thai Fried Rice were incredible. Service was fast and super polite. Portions were generous as well. A true hidden gem!
Always good! The fresh spring rolls are some of my favorite in SA and they make a great peanut sauce to go with them! The Drunken Noodle and Sweat and Sour are always very good! Tom Kha is some of the best in the city! You can’t go wrong! Lemongrass has been a neighbor staple for many years! Always great service and friendly staff!Recommended dishesSeafood Tornado, Pineapple Fried Rice, Thai Tea, Tom Kha Soup
Super friendly service at a family owned and operated establishment. No doubt, the food is freshly made in house. The flavors and spices conjure up authentic Thai cuisine where it is served in a very clean environment by owners who care about customer service. The tea tastes fresh and clean, and the restaurant also smells fresh and clean without that all too often encountered "Pinesol" odor. After only two visits, my wife declared that this is her favorite Thai restaurant. I am not sure if I would go that far as I have worked and lived in Hong Kong and Singapore and have experienced some spectacular Thai restaurants and cuisine. I will say this, though, as somebody who lives in the area and is new to this area as well... I have little motivation to go find other Thai restaurants for now. At least until I have exhausted the menu selections. The food is spot on, well presented, and served by by people who enjoy their professions. I'll also throw this in... they offer 10 levels of heat... not mild, medium, and hot, but 10 levels. You WILL find that perfect level of heat for your personal tastes. I recommend trying the beautifully presented Haw-Mok Taylay for the perfect Thai cuisine experience. I recommend having it with white rice. The 5-6 level of heat is not too adventurous, but does deliver a nice amount of heat for those wanting a true Thai experience. Anything less than a 5 or 6 would be boring. The regular Pad Thai with chicken is better than what I have had at any other Thai restaurants that I can remember, and a heat level of 4 or 5 is perfect... on the mild side actually, but then Pad Thai is typically one of the milder dishes served at Thai restaurants because you are always given condiments to dial it up however you like. We have tried many of the appetizers and none of them have been disappointing. Pick a few and enjoy. One of your favorite details is that virtually ever dish is garnished with a small edible orchid. Besides being traditional Thai... how cool is that to have them served to you at a little place in an unassuming mall at Thousand Oaks and 281. I hope this restaurant grows and thrives for the family's prosperity and good fortune, but I also hope it never loses its charm, quality, and personal touches that make it such a great place to dine. Oh... why only 4 stars instead of 5? Because that classic rock background music is a questionable choice for such a cool Thai restaurant. I am not going to say what should be played, but when I am looking at and consuming Lemongrass Thai food, and I hear "Hit Me With You Best Shot" by Joan Jett... uhm... nope. Maybe if it was a 24 hour restaurant, and I was in there at 2AM after spilling out of a bar surrounded by like minded partiers, then yes maybe. Something like "Asian Spa" by Dan Gibson Donald Quan would be nice on any given early weekday evening. Okay, then maybe I am making a recommendation.
Hot jasmine tea, yellow curry, brown rice, sweetest waitress on the planet. Good times all around! Vegetarian options: Tofu etc.
I am a regular 1-2 times per week for this restaurant. Food quality is easily one of top Thai restaurants I have been to. The portion especially Pad See-Ew is below average, this removes a star. The dish is very expensive for its portion; this removes another star. There are some top Thai restaurants that give more portion for about 5 or 6 dollars cheaper. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant for its food quality if you don't mind it being pricey for small-medium portion.
Not authentic Thai but the food is good and tasty. The portion size is enormous. We ordered the usual three dishes and it was difficult to finish. I appreciated the sauce wasnt too spicy so my kids were able to eat the vegetables dishes as well. Also the gravy was light vs thick and heavy. The dessert we order for the kid was really big. I was surprise about the size because usually Thai dessert is a lot smaller. Both my kids loved it and I think they got a sugar high. The waiter was really friendly and nice. He was very outgoing and i think it made the experience that more enjoyable.
This is our go to spot for Thai Food in the area, we've never been disappointed in anything on the menu and the staff is always very friendly! We've brought numerous people from out of town and they always comment how they wish they could find a place like Lemongrass where they live. Do yourself a favor and try them out, you won't be disappointed.
