My name is Carolina Chana Yaghoubzadeh and I’m the Designer and founder of Lev Collection.
I was born and raised in Italy in a Jewish & Persian home and I somehow always knew I wanted to become a Fashion Designer…
Certainly my heritage and background had a big influence on my sense of beauty and style and for sure living in Milan made things easier for me also, I was able to attend one of the best Fashion Schools in the Country… and that was only a few Subways stops away from my home!
Only in October 2008 my family decided to leave everything behind and move to the Big Apple… where everything was possible or at least that’s the attitude we came here with! Surely that attitude helped a lot… just a few months (enough time for me to actually learn some English) after we moved here I started working as an assistant designer for a big apparel company here in New York City…
As time went by and had to basically start a new life here in the States, I somehow got closer and started learning more about my Jewish heritage, customs and dress code, and as a girl who loves dressing nicely and fashionable you understand what kind of struggle was that for me! I started looking and searching and I realized that basically nobody makes nice modest fashionable clothing… can this be?!
I really could not understand or accept that the only option for a girl who for whatever reason wants to cover her cleavage or her arms is a Kiki Riki shirt! I mean, seriously?!
I refused to take that path... In my community there are very few people that are into dressing covered and I really wanted to take the next step but I didn’t want anybody around me to look down upon religion or modesty in general…I really wanted to show people that you can dress modestly and look beautiful… and there is nothing wrong with it!
Of course being a very determined girl I decided to take this challenge upon my self and started this line... Being the picky and detail oriented person that I am it wasn't so easy to find the perfect team to realize this dream in the best way possible... but I’m happy to see how far I've come starting from almost nothing and I hope that all my efforts will help you find that perfect dress that you almost lost hope in!
