The Lewiston Association of Police Local Union is currently 62 members strong. It is made up of a combination of corporals, detectives and patrol officers. This includes those officers that are assigned to special details such as, but not limited to, school resource officers, Violent Crimes Task Force, Maine Drug Enforcement and the Community Resource Team.
The members of the Lewiston Association of Police Local Union take on many tasks such as: K9 handlers, intoxilyzer techs, Drug recognition experts, firearms trainers, taser trainers, cpr/aed trainers, bicycle team, motorcycle unit, school resource/DARE officers and other such duties.
It is the mission of the Lewiston Police Department to create an atmosphere of partnership with the community toward the common goal of protecting life and property, and enhancing the overall quality of life. We strive to accomplish this through mutual trust and respect, and the fair and equitable enforcement of the law, while carefully safeguarding the dignity of all we serve.
