Single-practitioner therapeutic/medical massage practice. Clinically straightforward methods, laid-back atmosphere, serious results.
I'm a massage therapist, specializing in pain conditions, postural correction, and injury/surgery recovery. I employ widely varied tools, techniques, and pressure levels to enact changes in the mechanics of ligaments, muscles, and other soft tissues. These structural changes ease pressures and tensions on bones, thus allowing the body to correct its postural alignments, and removing causal stressors from your areas of inflammation and pain. Click "Learn More" above or visit massagebook.com/LigamentLizard to view services menu.
I'll accomplish several specific things over the course of your visit:
1. I'll ask you all about your work, activity habits and history, injury/surgery history, and general health.
2. I'll palpate, move, and observe your body to identify patterns of tension, and speculate with you about those patterns and how we can both work to help correct them in ways that are realistic for your lifestyle.
3. I'll apply a variety of direct massage therapy techniques (from straightforward comforting warm-ups to myofascial release, ligament stretching, assisted stretching, and more) to release affected tissues in strategic ways.
4. I'll write a few notes for you regarding things like home care, stretching, or ergonomics in order to ensure that you get every bit of lasting benefit out of your session.

What I'm especially good at:
- assessing things, answering questions, and explaining stuff
- low back pain, hip pain, sciatica, pelvic alignment, psoas
- neck/shoulder, forward posture issues, subscaps, rotator cuff
- scoliosis and other spinal disorders, rib/diaphragm pain
- all kinds of headaches, jaw and jaw joint pain
- treatment of fibromyalgia, tender point/trigger point therapy, other methods of myofascial and neuromuscular release
- alleviation of secondary soft tissue pain and scarring-related neuralgia/neuropathy from injuries and surgeries
Other skills I have and would like to use more often:
- special needs massage, particularly for those with autism and other cases involving sensory integration issues
- visceral fascia release (case-by-case)
- massage for foot and ankle pathologies
I don't do: Super silent sessions. Quiet and relaxing is dandy -- you always get to take the lead on how much you'd like to chat! But if I have a question for you about something related to your body and your massage, I'll always err on the side of communicating with you about it so that your session can be as effective as possible. Your first session or two will be the most interactive and full of assessment, while I get to know your body and lifestyle.
***I also do not offer prenatal or infant massage.*** I'm not trained in this specialty, and it's not safe for someone untrained in it to do it. If you're pregnant or looking for infant massage, I'd be happy to refer you to a friend who can help you out! If you've recently given birth, I'm happy to see you after 6 weeks post-birth, or whenever your doctor clears you to receive normal massage therapy.

I'm a music geek, MMA fan, dog person. I'm just enough of an odd duck to get along with everyone, and I have a pretty universal sense of humor. My former fields of exposure include body art, veterinary medicine, and special needs childcare, and future interests include medical client education resource development, medical device invention, and possibly medical practice and/or administration. I look forward to meeting you and helping you heal.
