America's Only Steam-Powered Lighthouse Tender, CGC LILAC brought supplies to lighthouses and maintained buoys as a vital part of our nation's system of aids to navigation. She is now a museum ship open to the public.
The mission of the non-profit Lilac Preservation Project is to restore the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter LILAC, a retired lighthouse and buoy tender, as a unique vehicle for maritime education and community activities, both underway and pier-side.
