It is amazing to see the decline of this mall within the last decade. It went from being a very popular shopping place, to a place full of a bunch of empty halls and odd clothing stores with inappropriately dressed mannequins on display. It's weird because I just want to take my kids to the mall sometimes but I know that the majority of these stores, in accordance with the world I guess, have half naked mannequins on display. What's with all the stores with the belly shirts, ripped dresses, and stringy lingerie? I saw at least 3 of them... The popcorn store is gone which was an all-time favorite, the broccoli slide is gone from the play area, so it's hard finding a reason to return to the mall anymore, for my family at least. We're a pretty conservative family of 5, for reference. Make the mall family friendly again, guys! That would bring it back to life. When we walked around the mall last weekend, we heard a whole bunch of people complaining about how much it has gone downhill. I don't think it's just simply because of how online shopping has been booming lately, I think it's just because this mall isn't being well maintained. There are a bunch of weird inappropriate stores in it now, the play area has not been well maintained, and the food court has pretty much died so that really explains the decline I guess. I agree with a few of the other reviews I've seen here, the majority of people that are there to visit the mall aren't there to spend money. I really think it would be beneficial for Lindale mall to add more Family friendly stuff!
I actually left this mall feeling depressed. My wife put it perfectly: this mall is where dreams go to die. The entire place looks like it hasn't advanced at all since the 1980s: tired storefronts, passe gimicks like massage chairs and bubble-gum-machine congolmerates. Many of the spaces were empty, and most people wandering aimlessly through the uninspired building looked bored, and certainly didn't look like they were there to spend money. It was just depressing. That said, others who have reviewed the mall seemed to like it, so perhaps it's just a matter of personal taste.
I do not take for granted having a mall nearby. I like seeing the quality of items before purchasing them. Clothing online is such a hassle especially when you have never tried that particular brand before. Lindale started as an open air mall and Von Maur use to be Peterson Harned Von Maur. Some of the stores include: Holley’s Shop for men, GameStop, Foot Locker, Finish Line, Effie Bauer, Claire’s, Buckle, Maurices, Bath & Body works, American Eagle Outfitters, Bohemia’s, CJ’s banks, Carter’s, Francesca’s, Justice, Famous Footwear, Express Factory, Victoria’s Secret and many more. It has a play area for younger children called Wellville and Lindale even has a game area next to Hu Hot with bean bag toss and to complete the setting- Adirondack chairs! They have places to eat and businesses such as cell phone retailers and my favorite place to buy glasses and have my eyes examined- Lens Crafters.
Plenty of mainstream stores in the mall, but there are several areas that look like smaller businesses had to close shop and move on. Still, it's family friendly and a great place to fitness walk. It appears there are two churches in the mall, too. Maybe it's the prayers that keep this place thriving.
This mall is a perfect example of the continued downward spiral that enclosed shopping malls are dealing with. There were indeed a lot of empty shops and not much appeal in the walking area. The mall also had very few people, but it was a weekday, so I'm sure that played a factor.
It feels more baren than anything. It has some good stores but not enough that is go there to hang out. Would not recommend the nail salon. Overpriced and not good enough quality for it to be worth the price.
Nice mall with a fabulous Jared the Galleria of Jewelry store on the property! Easy access right off of Collins Rd. Stop in and visit the welcoming team! Best diamond prices in Cedar Rapids. We will match or beat any reputable competitor. You will not regret your decision to stop in. By the way, they’re an authorized Pandora and Tag Heuer retailer- only one in the city.
Sadly this mall is going the way of westdale mall. In 5 years nuthing is gonna be here. Also looks like they only reply to the good reviews, which makes me believe they dont care if it fails
This place has a lot of nice stores, from Buckle to Von Maur to Hot Topic, and is probably one of the best places in town for clothing. Plenty of food options, including Maid Rite, Subway, and Pretzelmaker which is awesome. Always clean and easy on the eyes.
Unfortunately this mall is on life support. Von Mauer and a few stores are the only reason to visit. The food court is sad. The owners should look into ways of reinventing and reinvigorating the mall, so the public will be attracted and decide to reenter the mall.
