The Linden Mills Historical Society Museum, is dedicated to the preservation of the history of Linden, Michigan.
The community now known as Linden, was settled in 1835 and originally called
Warner’s Mills. The State of Michigan recognized the area as Linden in 1840.
The present historic Linden Mill Building was the third mill in the community, having been built in 1871.
It was operated as a gristmill until the 1950’s. The City of Linden ultimately acquired the building. In 1975 the Linden Mills Historical Society was formed by a dedicated group of citizens who wanted to keep our rich pioneer history alive.
Flooring was installed, stairways were created, and artifacts were collected and housed within this grand old former mill. Since that time the Mill Building has been the home of the Linden Mills Historical Society Museum, occupying the second and third floors of the building. Many unique displays and exhibits can be viewed including a vintage schoolroom, a bridal gown collection from Linden brides, a general store, and the Beach Buggy, made in Linden and a part of General Motors history.
The museum is open from June through October of each year on the second and fourth Sundays from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and also by appointment. The Museum is also open during special community events in the summer and at Christmas each year.
