Little Rapids General Store

Was a really cool and quaint little store. Unfortunately, the owners Merv & Kim have retired from the business and they closed the store on Sept 8th, 2023. Hopefully a buyer will come along soon to revive this historic establishment.

I have been coming to Merv’s general store since I was a baby and it remains one of my favorite places to visit when I’m on Basswood lake every summer. He has the best cheese and sausage especially the caramelized onion cheese and summer sausage as well as worms for fishing. It’s totally worth the trip to see this iconic little store while you fill up on gas!

Awesome little store in the middle of almost nowhere. The shop itself is a little tight inside, but open enough to navigate. Shop owner is a really nice gentleman, happy to make conversation. I'd definitely stop by again.

They stay open on holidays which saved us over the Canada Day long weekend when everything else was shut down. Great little place - has a little bit of everything.

I had the pleasure to meet and chat with the owner, Mervin Brooks. What a delight! As local residents came and went, it did not take long to realize that Mervin is a much loved and well respected member of the community. I can't wait to go back for a visit.
