LIU Riverhead is the only private university located on the east-end offering graduate degree and undergraduate transfer programs.
LIU Riverhead offers the following graduate programs in teacher education: Master of Science in Childhood Education (Grades 1-6), Master of Science in Literacy Education (Birth – Grade 6), Master of Science in Teaching Students with Disabilities (Grades 1-6), and Teaching Students with Disabilities Generalist (Grades 7-12). At the undergraduate level, LIU Riverhead offers the Bachelor of Science in Childhood Education and the Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies - New Media. Both undergraduate programs are upper-division and provide seamless transfer opportunities to undergraduate students seeking a four-year degree program.
Our Riverhead location is home to the fully online Homeland Security and Terroism Institute (HSTI). HSTI is recognized as the nation’s leading private institution for graduate level education in the field of homeland security management and has also been designated by Act of Congress as a National Transportation Security Center of Excellence. Programs offered include the Master of Science in Homeland Security Management and graduate-level Advanced Certificate programs in Homeland Security Management and Cyber Security Policy. The fully online aspect of these programs attracts the best and brightest in both faculty and students from all over the world featuring comprehensive curricula designed by professionals for professionals.
