With six attorneys, LAPM&K is Connecticut's largest plaintiff-side labor and employment law firm. For more than three decades, our practice has been limited to representing individual employees and labor unions in all aspects of labor and employment law.
Firm History
Livingston, Adler, Pulda Meiklejohn & Kelly was formed in 1981 with the merger of two smaller union-side firms. With six attorneys, LAPM&K is Connecticut's largest plaintiff-side labor and employment law firm. For more than three decades, our practice has been limited to representing individual employees and labor unions in all aspects of labor and employment law. Because we do not represent corporations or employers in employment-related disputes, we are able to consistently focus our legal work on furthering employee rights and workplace justice.
Who We Are
The attorneys of LAPM&K regularly represent labor unions in contract negotiations and grievance arbitrations. We also help unions protect employee rights before the National Labor Relations Board, the State Labor Relations Board, and in State and Federal Court.
In each year since 2010, every one of the partners at LAPM&K has been recognized by Super Lawyers in the Employment & Labor category - Dan Livingston, Gregg Adler, Tom Meiklejohn, Mary Kelly and Henry Murray are regularly named as Super Lawyers in Connecticut and New England, and Nicole Rothgeb has been selected annually as one of New England's Rising Stars.
What We Do
The attorneys of LAPM&K regularly represent employees with respect to claims of employment discrimination and retaliation on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, national origin, pregnancy, sexual harassment, racial harassment, and hostile work environment, and the exercise of rights protected by the family and medical leave acts (FMLA). We also represent employees with respect to first amendment activity, whistleblowing claims, public policy discharge claims, workers compensation retaliation, employer violations of wage and hour laws, breach of contract claims, libel and defamation actions, claims for invasion of privacy and other tort claims and claims involving non-competition agreements.
We provide employees with advice and counsel with respect to employment related disputes, accommodation requests, severance agreements, and contract negotiations. We represent individual employees in both the State and Federal Courts, before the the Department of Labor, at the Connecticut Commission of Human Rights & Opportunities and the federal Equal Employment Opportunities Commission, and in private mediation and arbitrations.
In Solidarity with the Struggle for Real Social Change
The attorneys of LAPM&K work with other progressive groups such as the Connecticut Women's Education and Legal Fund, the Connecticut Civil Liberties Union, the National Lawyers Guild, and the Connecticut Citizen's Action Group, on issues related to employment, women's rights, rights of immigrant workers, access to health care, and protection of constitutional rights.
