Scheduling a visit and the application process was very easy. We really enjoyed getting to meet all the puppies and are in love with our new girl Freckles!! aka Janice
The staff were very polite, jumping up to help me choose a new family member. They were helpful, informative and friendly. They didn't rush me, allowing me to take photos and chat as I narrowed my choices down to two. So many changes have recently been made, and the atmosphere there now is so much more pleasant. If you haven't visited recently, give them another try! You'll be glad you did!
Nothing will beat the helpful and positive staff! Everyone here puts their whole heart into caring for the animals and ensuring they go to the purrfect home. couldn’t think of a better place to adopt your newest family member!
I volunteer at Livingston County Humane Society and love the way that the pets are cared for. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure that the pets in their care get what they need. I also love that they are so invested in finding the best home for the pets. It is not an easy task to chose the best home when multiple applications come in for one pet but they do great with the pet's best interest at heart.
For the second time in 8 years i adopted a dog from them. Karen and her staff are wonderful caring people who truly love and care for the animals This is Jud, I brought him to his furever home yesterday, July 26, 2019. I would recommend Livingston County Humane Society to any pet loving person in a heartbeat. Thank you, Karen and your staff for providing care and love and the perfect home for the Pets.
This facility is a must visit! The staff really takes care of their animals, while being very particular at ensuring placement of animals into homes that will be the best possible fit. I do not make this comment lightly as our recent application was denied by them. Although my husband and I were shocked, never thinking in a million years people like us would be denied. We understood why the management made the decision they did. Although we don’t agree, the position they are in daily, to try and protect the animals after leaving their facility, should be appreciated. It would be difficult to make those though decisions. We wish their facility, staff and animals the best.
The staff is so caring! They work so hard in making sure that every animal gets the love and attention they deserve. They are there on holidays and when other families are celebrating, they are with the animals giving them hugs and kisses and sweets and treats.
My Husband and I tried adopting a dog named Reny from this shelter. We are well qualified and met all of the requirements they have to be able to adopt a dog from them. However, they still denied our application due to our current pet had one shot that was out of date by a couple of weeks and our vet did not have heart worm prevention records. Heather told us if we took our dog to the vet and sent them the updated records with proof of the new shot and negative heart worm they would continue to process the application. My husband went to the vet first thing this morning and sent the required paperwork back over to the shelter. They then emailed us saying “We will need a receipt showing heart worm was purchased consistently. When you provide that we can continue to process the application.” We purchase our heart worm prevention over the counter due to convenience and affordability. We don’t even think to keep the receipts because why would we? A negative heart worm test should be satisfactory enough! Heather was super degrading to us and she would rather keep innocent pets in the shelter rather than see them live out their life in a loving home. We will take our business away from this shelter and go to a more respectful one that truly cares about their pets and adopters. I sincerely hope this rescue takes responsibility for their actions and their employees lack of professionalism. Edited to add in response to the businesses reply: I have saved emails to prove we never told you our current dog has been out of date on shots since July. Our emails also state we never once told you our dog was not on heartworm prevention consistently. Accept and own up to the fact that you’re a horrible shelter doing a disservice to your animals. We spoke with multiple people and we were not the only ones who have experienced a similar situation as the one we have, get over yourselves!
We just adopted a new puppy from the humane society. Everyone we dealt with was amazing! We had to do a meet and greet with our current dog. I was nervous because she can act scared and overwhelmed meeting new dogs, which some see as aggressive. Karen knew right away is was an anxious/nervous response and she and her staff were so understanding! Karen allowed us to take the puppy outside to neutral ground to meet our dog. Everything went so smoothly with the greeting and we couldn’t be happier with our new family member! I would absolutely adopt from them again!
I volunteer here, so I am biased regarding support for an organization that promotes saving dogs and cats.
