A friend of mine picked this place for me, otherwise I wouldn't have picked it myself due to the location and social atmosphere. I was looking for a more peaceful, low-key place and this is not it. It's very loud at night because people are partying and music is playing. With ear plugs it really drowns it out so that's fine. Upon arrival I had driven many hours it was loud because the restaurant was playing live music so we had to yell. The lady who helped me initially was not accommodating. The parking was further away then I had hoped for. Luckily I could park next to the hotel, but I was already beat from driving and I asked if there was any way I could get some help bringing my stuff in and she just said "I'm sorry." Then I went back and forth up and down the elevator lugging my things and she just WATCHED me as I shook my head. I went back and said "as fancy as this place is, it's ridiculous I can't receive a little help." She just shrugged. I finally got my stuff in and the room was great. Everything worked and was clean. The shower is wonderful and soothing. Every night it is loud outside with music, sirens and honking all day and night, but with good ear plugs that goes away. Also bring an eye mask because the curtains still let in some light. After that initial first night, everything went smoothly. I didn't eat at the restaurant but it looked nice. Hunter was by far my favorite and he was very helpful, knowledgeable, friendly and cheerful. All the other staff I met were also helpful and kind. Check out went a lot more smoothly. I didn't ask for assistance because I wasn't exhausted and they were very clear about where to move my car. The room/building was definitely old, if you're looking for modern then this isn't it. But it is very clean and comfortable. I probably wouldn't come back here just due to the location and party atmosphere because that's just not me but if that's what you're looking for then this place is perfect. I wish the helpful staff could be at every place I stay, besides that one girl. I don't know if she was new or just an idiot. Sorry not sorry
All I can say is “wow” - this place is incredible! The attention to detail in this hotel from decor to waitstaff is remarkable. The hotel is nestled in a vibrant busy area as there are many places to explore for dining, drinks, music and other tourist attractions. They have their own restaurant, entertainment in the evening and an outdoor patio that feels like an oasis away from the busy streets. The Culver Hotel experience was top notch and is a must visit. I will back!
Our son and his girlfriend live in Culver City and suggested the Culver Hotel for our visit. Initially I hoped for something a little more affordable but decided to splurge given the proximity to their apartment. We have been blown away by the experience. The staff repeatedly greet us by name. The room is beautiful and comfortable. The history of the hotel and this part of the city are great. There are so many dining and shopping options in walking distance, we rarely needed a car. We also felt completely safe walking to and from at any time of day or night. This is not something I can say about other hotels/cities on this trip. The Sunday brunch was outstanding and a highlight. Yes, this is an active area, and there is some noise, but we considered it part of the fun. We will absolutely stay at the Culver Hotel on our next visit.
We stayed in this hotel in September and it is a real treasure of elegance. The decoration is done with an exquisite taste and in perfect harmony with the history of this hotel. We would like to thank the staff and the hotel manager for the special attention. My only regret is not having the chance to have the breakfast opened at that time. I wanted to be able to eat in this beautiful place.
I love this place because it feels like I’ve been transported back in time. As soon as I walk through the doors of this historic hotel registered by the Department of the Interior as a historic landmark I feel a sense of excitement! There’s a live band on Friday and Saturday, usually playing Jazz or piano music. The restaurant Lillie’s at the Culver offers a variety of food and drinks, and plenty of seating options all while enjoying the elegant ambiance of the hotel. An absolute must when in Culver City!
I have stayed at The Culver several times and always enjoyed my stays. Lovely hotel and walking distance to my sister. But I probably won't again. Not nearly enough value for the exorbitant price. Every other time I stayed at The Culver, the price of the room was a lot lower, the remote worked, and there was a wonderful, and limited, breakfast for guests. This time I ordered a corner room and was given 33. This time the price was almost 100% more than last time and there was not a speck of food. And all for ~$600+ a night. Whoa!
This place is just fun. The eclectic design, the restaurant, the jazz, the silent movie night projection in the restaurant, the history of the building…Everything. Even the staff - and they are really heart of the place. Everyone we encountered was friendly and thoughtful and seemed to genuinely care about our experience. HeeSung, Hunter, Alejandro, and Anna are some of the names we remember there were more. Also Aaron the GM was on site and personally engaged. He’s got skills. This place could be a trendy tourist trap but instead Aaron runs it like a family business. We had a great time. We’ll be back.
You got me good, CH. I was coming in from a delayed overseas flight, had 18 minutes to get into my room and hop on a favorite client call, the woman in front of me had a lot of questions all handled compassionately + brilliantly by the front desk - and I had entered a 'wee bit' unnecessarily grumpy about the processes of online plus front desk check-in. But the moment I stepped inside and was warmly greeted in the tiny corner of the restaurant/bar by a most fabulously kind human with funky nail polish under the gloriously high ceiling and giant lit up black grid windows with sheer grey curtains billowing in their tiebacks and offered Prosecco, time released its grip and they had me. Instantly de-stressed by the elegant ease here. And made my client call in perfect timing. The top floor room, history, lore, location!!, and people are incredible. The restaurant has good food, was easy for a solo introvert to meet happy people, and live jazz was flowing after a night at The Getty. Ten steps away are a cute movie theatre, every dining option, super safe area, romantic walks even or especially solo. If you like boutique more than the sanitized boxes and showing their age formerly grand chain hotels, this place is a sweet upgrade. If you like quirk and elegance, not-so-square rooms, CHARACTER and ease, this is home.
Elegant and sophisticated. Love it! Highly recommend for drinks. Did not have a chance to stay there but I'm sure the rooms are gorgeous!Service: 5/5
Stayed for a business trip and got upgraded to a suite. The hotel is great and has lot of awesome food options. With its walking distance to other restaurants and food places I highly recommend this place.
