Staying with friends here in Maine I was introduced to this marvel of bookshop by my dear friend Terry. What a wonderful place to spend hours looking at different genres of books. and sitting outside in the sunshine with a book in your hand, admiring the beautiful landscape, Thanks to the owner for her knowledge and kindness searching for books in the 100 000 thousand book assortment. Gracias. A visitor from Puerto Rico.
Really nice store. Very small spaces but lots of cool books and really amazing deals. A lot of the books are $2.50 apiece.
This may be the prettiest little book store in the world. It's in a cluster of little clapboard sheds overlooking a little cove with wild roses on shore, bobbing lobster boats in the water and wheeling seagulls over head. It can get a little crowded but book lovers are nice people so the occasional traffic jam in the stacks usually turns into laughter. There are stacks of books everywhere but the shelves are very well organized. If you can't find what you're looking for or need a recommendation just ask. The owner is very knowledgeable. Make sure you continue down the island road to McLoon's for lobster or ice cream when you're done!
Such a great place to spend a lot of time perusing a lot of books. Well organized and the wonderful folks who run it know where to find what you are looking for. The prices are ridiculously low. Can't wait to head back next weekend after I finish this $2.50 hardback thriller from John Grisham.
We’ve been going to this charming bookstore for decades, always with great pleasure and positive rewards. The owner knows where every book is in the store and is always ready to help you find what you want. It’s only open on weekends from spring to early fall, and it’s always crowded, but it’s always well worth it!
I love coming here every year! Janine does a fantastic job of keeping the place overflowing with books for every reader at great prices. It is a little cramped but a small price to pay for what you get in return. Only open on weekend afternoons during the summer months but oh so worth the trip here!
This is the intellectual Mecca of the Saint George peninsula. It is a social magnet for people who love books and want to go home with an arm full for weeks and months of summer reading. And enough to carry one into the fall and winter. Janette is a caring and extremely literate and well read person. She will recommend for your interest, and guide you in your search. She is a treasure and a princess. The community should form a support group to discuss with her expanding her space since her clients numbers will grow and her books already are beyond the existing shelf space to contain. It’s cramped ambience is part of the charm, but one could imagine even greater possibilities.
A great little book store, with very helpful staff, and a great selection.
This is one of my favorite bookstores on the planet. It has an amazing selection for such a small place and the people and prices are great. This out of the way treasure is one of the few surviving classic used book nooks. Don't miss it.
Great bookstore - although it is well off the beaten path, it's worth the detour. Lots of books, most of them hardcover, at amazingly cheap prices... about $1 - $3 per book. Even brand new books that someone has traded in might only be $2. Might only be open during the summer.
