Such a cute place ! You can tell they care about the place,it is very well kept up . The restrooms and showers are so nice to have and are clean . The park manager is so sweet and nice . The kids were able to bring their bikes to ride back and forth from the playground, which they loved .We adored our stay here and this was our first trip. We will definitely be back .
We reserved the family site F015. To have extra room since we had kids with us. The site itself is very large and it borders a field. The field has plenty of room to run and play badminton. The site pad is unlevel and has every bit of a 10 inch drop on the smaller pad. Be sure to bring levelers. we noticed several sites were extremely unlevel. Closer to the bathhouse in the 30 amp also on the smaller pad the weeds go all the way up to the fire pit, but since we had the secondary spot, it wasn’t a big deal for us. The larger pad does have asphalt down, but it has several areas that is badly damaged. Right outside the Rv door is anywhere from a 6 inch to a 4 inch drop. Which is a fall hazard with children. Overall, we would recommend the sites just for the extra room. The bathrooms were nice and clean. The vault toilets were disgusting. Both of these sites have cigarette butts everywhere. It looks like several years worth or a heavy smoker. Stayed here for a long time. Swimming- the swimming area is not close to the campground at all. Although you can get to the lake easily from the campground, that spots is all mud and not accessible to swim. You would have to either drive or walk a long ways to the swim beach. Playground: The playground is small adequate for children. Our kids only went up and looked at it. It does have swings and baby swings. As well as larger playground equipment. Restrooms: The restrooms for the 30 app section were clean at all times. Which was nice, especially when taking the children in. The vault bathrooms, which is right beside the playground was disgusting. Doesn’t look like that those ever get cleaned. Needless to say we did not use them we walk that extra to use the restroom. Dog-friendliness: As long as your dog is cap on a leash, it is allowed. They offered doggy bag so you can clean up after your pet, which was a very nice surprise.
We went camping here toward the end of March. This was before all the in season services were turned on. There were vault toilets and one frost proof spigot available if you needed water. It was raining a lot the day we got there so the following days were kind of muddy in some spots. We went on a couple of short hikes. The hike on the Lakeview trail was a gravel trail so mud was not an issue. The second trail was the Little Chariton Prairie Trail. Some of the low areas had some running water that was no more than a few inches deep at most they needed to be crossed so be prepared to get feet wet after it rains. Playground: There were a few playgrounds in the park. 1 by the campgrounds. A second one was by the picnic area. And a third one was by the marina/ swim beach. Restrooms: I was there during the offseason so the restrooms were mostly vault. But there are other flush toilets in the campgrounds and near the Marina/swim beach. Dog-friendliness: Dogs are allowed but you are supposed to keep them on a leash.. Picnic area: There is a picnic area but some large BBQ grills and a pavilion. The pavilion does have lighting if you're there after dark.
This park is a beautiful place to visit. I was very clean, I didn't see 1 piece of trash anywhere. I didn't get a chance to swim or fish but any outdoor activity would be pleasant here I am sure! Found these weird mushrooms, someone told me they are False Morels and not to eat them! I am not in the habit of eating random fungus! However I appreciate the sentiment!
Great place to stop and camp. Quiet and peaceful. Shout out to the campground host who hooked it up with a beautiful campsite on the way to Montana.
We just moved up this way and decided to explore. Very nice CLEAN park!! Lilly my Goldendoodle loved it!! Going to get the boat out and see how the fishing is. Dog-friendliness: Bring a leash. And a bag to clean up after your fur baby. This is a very clean park!!!
Love the new updates with the picnic tables and stairs down to the beach. Very nice. Restrooms are mediocre. Restrooms: Dirty but at least there were supplies in them. Picnic area: Love the updates.
BEAUTIFUL AND CLEAN AS WELL! It's been a long time since I was entranced by scenery at all and I quickly was involved in this State Park and Recreational site.
Decided to stop by and enjoy this lake on the way home. My kids of course loved it. Next time we are in town we’ll definitely stop by again in the summer time…
Great beach for family. Plenty of space for swimming. The sand is soft but there are not trees to get shade; so bring a beach tent that supports the wind. You can find a store with ice, water and ice cream, but not hot food for lunch. This place has some few nice covered picnic tables and bathrooms.
