"Lookout Tavern is one of Martha’s Vineyard’s most loved restaurants with the best sushi on the Island, cold beers on tap, exceptional cocktails and a view to rival all Island views. Located on a bluff overlooking the water, the Lookout Tavern commands sweeping views of incoming and outgoing boats and most days enjoys what some might say are the best sea breezes around. Comfortable for the whole family and some of the best seafood on Martha’s Vineyard! We do not take reservations."

Great food and service. And drinks of course! Busy due to everyone looking for respite from the rain. We had a bar table and the bartenders hustled, all smiles and engaging the whole time. We weren't forgotten about as with other establishments. The Lobster Roll is a Best of... for many years. Definitely well deserved. Enjoy!
We ordered the sautéed, buttered lobster roll and whole belly fried clam basket. For two people, it was a lot! The clams are market price and come with A LOT of fries. We could have gotten the clam appetizer instead. Broccoli slaw and tarter sauce were delicious. Chips that come with the lobster roll are really good! Cocktails were fun and delicious and the New England centric beer list is pretty good. Fun spot! We got there just before noon, when we left there was already a line on a Wednesday.
Staff was extremely friendly. The chowder had a great taste but was a bit thick for my liking. The fries and ranch are amazing and the lobster roll was delicious. My fiance had the burger which was also tasty. This plus the view, makes it a 5 star experience!
The Lookout Tavern is very busy and seems like a popular destination spot for Martha’s Vineyard. There was a 30 min wait to get in and so we put our name down and came back. The staff was friendly and the windows were open with an excellent view of the ocean. All of the decor was either sports or beach related. The food was delicious! The Sam Adam’s Beer battered fish tacos were the finest in New England. I was told that the lobster roll was the best you could ever have. There was vast selection of drinks to choose from too. A definite must if on Martha’s Vineyard. Hope this helps!
This is a great place for the views. And the service is also very good. The oysters were fresh and very good. The lobster roll was ok. Their cocktails: margaritas are good. Mule good too.
Five for the view. We had the Lobster Roll. Very good. I think Boston in October was the best I've had. This was second only to that. Great food selection in a bar setting.
Best lobster roll ever! Not cheap but tasty. Lots of seating for outdoor eating. Very friendly waitresses. Would try sushi here next time. Vegetarian options: Impossible products sold here. But not really gluten free safe for celiac impaired customers Wheelchair accessibility: Wooden ramp
Great atmosphere and always a lively place. The prices are high but the food is great. The staff is amazing. The Lobster Roll is a hit!!!
Figured it would be busy at 6:30 when we got off the ferry, so we ordered online and picked it up and ate at a bench facing the water across the street. Beautiful views and the tavern lobster roll was huge and delicious! A little pricey; $71 for a chicken sandwich and a lobster roll, but worth it.
Arrived from the ferry at about 1pm on a Saturday and the wait time was 45-60 minutes. We decided to stroll around town. 30 minutes later we were called to be seated. My wife was looking forward to the lobster tacos and my daughter was looking forward to the lobster roll. The menu price for each was about $5 higher than the price online but they ordered them anyways. I chose the beef tips with sweet potato fries and salad. My dish was really good. Both my wife and daughters dishes started good but eventually they experienced tough bites and about 4 bites with shell pieces before they were finished. Which for some people may not be a big deal, but for them they had a hard time finishing their meal due to the texture and added crunch. I asked them both if they would order those dishes again and they both said no. I gave 4 stars for the location and open air feel. Service was just ok. We drank water and I guess water isn't as important for refills as alcohol beverages.
