It's a kill shelter. I remember they put down my extremely friendly pitbull here even though we continuously called them asking if she was there and we could pick her up. I hate to support such an association.
Absolutely terrible. Gave a dog 5 days to find a family before deciding to euthanize her tomorrow. The dog would have had a better chance as a stray than in their shelter. Also did not post her name and much other information about her. How will anyone show interest if they don’t know anything about her? It’s like they are setting her up for failure.
The staff was wonderful to me and my sweet scared little kitten! I'd highly them to any1 unsure what to do when finding an abandoned animal. They helped calm me and Smokey when it came time to get to get her fixed and her 1st shots.they helped us offset the costs so she can stay in her 4ever home...absolutely love these people!! Thank you from all of us!!!
There is an awesome group of volunteers working there that truly love animals. The place is well maintained and clean. The animals are well fed and, very well cared for!!!! They go out of their way to assist in families being reunited with their fur babies. And they can always use donations of food, blankets, toys, and money!!!!!
Adopted a puppie from here back in November Looking to adopt another dog but not a puppies more like a senior dog 4yrs or older
It saddens me as a senior citizen that when a aunt of mine abandoned two dogs and left me the two dogs to love, feed, and care for their needs get kidnapped by her daughter Irma Souza who suddenly now wants them! I call the police to help me get them back don't do anything except sit on their big behind and say the dogs are a possession and I would have to take her to small claims court! Theses animal that people love very much like family are not possessions! They are family! So if someone steals your dog,go out and steal someone else's dog cause you have a right to steal that dog according to the police!
This is our second dog we adopted from Los Banos Animal Shelter. These guys are volunteer run and they do an amazing job. I could not be more thankful to them for saving these animals and for saving so many lives. I cannot imagine my life without my two dogs. We drove 2 hours each way from San Francisco. I encourage anyone looking to adopt to go down there and save a life and enrich your own. The animals there are so amazing, so loving and if given a chance they will change your life too!
Hate isn't even a strong enough word. Sick. Outraged. Disgusted. I had been talking the shelter about a particular dog. The woman noted that she had many people to call back regarding the dog and she would determine who seemed like a best fit and would call them back to come meet the dog. She noted this would take a few days. Mind you, from the website, the dogs are given five days before they are euthanized. So it doesn't seem like the "shelter" should spend a lot of time being discerning versus just trying to get the animals help. This was a Tuesday. I was called back on a Thursday and was asked if I was still interested in the dog. I said I definitely was. She asked if I could come immediately because there was a rescue coming shortly. I live an hour and a half away, so I wouldn't have been able to get there before the rescue. She said the rescue would be taking the dog then and she would make a note to let me know where the dog ended up. I flat out asked her, "If I don't come right now, are you going to kill the dog?" She assured me NO, the rescue would be taking it. I felt relieved for the animal and I planned on going Saturday with my husband and dog to where ever the little girl had ended up. I called back Friday to find out where she ended up. The woman got quiet and flat and said, "The animal is no longer at the shelter." So I said, "Yes, I know, you said a rescue was coming to take her yesterday and that I didn't need to come get her right away. Which rescue took her, do you know?" Again curt and flat she said, "The animal is no longer at the shelter." I don't think it's a big leap to assume they've killed the dog. Especially since the dog is no longer anywhere to be found on their Facebook page the only place you can see available animals. Animals that have been rescued or adopted have notes in the picture. I spent two days sick over this. There was an urgency in her voice that Thursday, but she assured me the animal would not be killed. If she had been honest I would have left work immediately and gotten there as soon as I humanly could. I would have been able to save one of those poor, sweet animals who didn't ask for this. And what makes me especially sick about this place, is that they post on their Facebook page things like, "Found these two dogs running around near a street. They're safer here than on the street." Which is nothing short of a lie, because they have five short days before they are euthanized. The first dog I adopted was in the shelter for a month prior to us taking her. I can't even fathom the poor dog's fate had she ended up in this small piece of hell. To think of the likely hundreds of animals that are being killed each week at this place. And people are surrendering animals to it. If they can't afford to keep the dogs longer than five days, why does this place even exist? To have someone clearly stating they are interested in a dog and then to kill it anyway. I can't even wrap my head around it.
Horrible service , discriminated against larger dogs. They made it seem like the only option was to euthanize the dog instead of finding it a new home. I ended up taking the dog to Santa Cruz Animal Shelter instead, amazing service there. You can really tell they care for their animals.
Was going to drop off kittens here and right away one of the lady's were rude and disrespectful, she said they will be euthanized anways if they stay. Many complaints about the same lady being rude and uncaring with animals.
