Los Barrios Mexican Restaurant

About

Some things you just have to see (or taste!) to believe, and our award-winning food is one of them.

Description

As a San Antonio staple since 1979, Los Barrios Mexican Restaurant is known for a couple of things throughout our community. We’re known for our mouthwatering Tex-Mex dishes and beautiful patio dining experience. Most of all, though, we’re known for being a place for family. Our welcoming environment and fresh, home-style cuisine make us the perfect spot to bring your family. Everyone will enjoy our live music and attentive service.

"Nearly four decades ago we opened as a small eatery in Downtown San Antonio; we've come a long way since then. We created a top-rated cookbook, been featured on the Food Network and took the puffy taco all the way to the White House. However, our growth hasn't changed what made us Los Barrios. We still use family recipes perfected over generations, the freshest ingredients and most aromatic spices. Most importantly, we always make each meal about bringing family together around a table."

I really enjoy the hot delicious food and service thank you Diana for your wonderful service and your friendly staff. I highly recommend this Mexican restaurant I will be back in the future.Food: 5/5
Ordered beef fajitas and 32oz drink to hotel thru Door Dash. Drink came with straw, but no plastic ware sent. Hard to eat rice and beans without those. Also very high up-charge for shredded cheese after the fact. Food mediocre and cold. Ice cold once plastic ware located. Also - no complimentary chips. Total order was $42.53 before Dash fees, tip and tax. Nearly $60 after. Not worth it - would avoid - won’t order from again when in town.
Worst service I can remember in a very long time. I asked the wait staff 4 times for a chair. The food came out before the chair, and no silverware was brought out. No chips and salsa was brought out. I never got napkins so after eating with my fingers I wasn't able to wipe my greasy hands. I went to the restroom to wash my hands and there were no paper towels in the restroom. Curious if staff has a separate restroom...
Service is wonderful and food delicious Found it amusing reading the many reviews complaining about the chips not being free they're 1.99 extra....1.99! If 1.99 is that much of a burden then maybe do yourself a favor and have dinner at home. We ordered a large guacamole and a large chile con queso so our chips were included but I'd have no problem paying for them. The salsa they give you is not too spicy but really flavorful. Our waiter was super attentive and made sure we were good from start to finish. Highly recommend
This is my favorite place in San Antonio to go to have a great plate of Mexican food! I really like a family owned business, and that one of the owners will be dropping by your table to make sure everything is great. They really care about good service, too. The El Jefe margarita is the best in San Antonio! When they bring you chips, I recommend asking for Henry's Salsa - not that the red salsa is bad. I just love a bit more spice.
I came on a tuesday around 4pm. It wasn’t packed or super busy, i was seated quickly and the staff that interacted with me were kind , my food came out quickly and fresh and tasted absolutely amazing. honestly a good experience, i got a very comfortable homelike vibe being there. the manager approached me making friendly conversation, my server maría was fantastic i would definitely come back again.
Service was great, food was not!!! The chef/cook definitely has a heavy hand with the salt shaker. The food was so salt that it was inedible. Word to the wise, if you’re going to charge for chips and salty which is sacrilegious in my book then they need to be good fresh crispy tortilla chips. Not the oil soaked, stale ones that were served. I could go on and on but this definitely rates in the top 5 of worse meals I have ever eaten. I guess that’s what I get for trusting a paid review site.
The food is delicious. The service and wait staff are excellent. Los Barrios family restaurants are my favorite.Food: 5/5
I was alone, and sometimes servers aren’t that nice or attentive to an older single woman. Opposite experience here! I wish I had gotten the gentleman’s name who waited on me so I could praise him by name. He was wonderful—efficient, courteous, thoughtful. My puffy taco was just great!Food: 5/5
Truly authentic Mexican food. Everything was delicious. Very busy, but service was good. Great photographer. We don't usually buy the photos, but they were so good we just had too.Recommended dishesCarne GuisadaParking spaceSomewhat difficult to find parkingParking optionsFree parking lot, Free street parking
