Mexican restaurants are a dime a dozen in suburban Atlanta and generally serve the same 10 ingredients arranged in various ways + rice and a mess of refried beans. Los Portales isnt remarkably different in this manner, but it has a lot of personality. The owner was our server. It started with a lesson in rolling our R’s to produce an accurate “gracias!” He made marionettes dance on our table, delighting our child. We ordered the Mexicano burrito, steak fajitas, and kid’s quesadilla with broccoli, and while we said no thank you to queso, the owner soon showed up with a bowl on the house. We also ordered what turned out to be strongly poured margaritas, and he soon brought a pair of free shots to the table. It didn’t end there. He was surprised when we asked for the spiciest sauce they’ve got, and served us a bowl each of habenero sauce and tomatillo sauce. In the end, the owner and his wife and my partner all shared another shot of tequlia, while I enjoyed fried ice cream with the kiddo. The food was all great, and the dining area and kitchen were really clean. Noticably unusually clean. It was a great meal for a Monday night, and we will be back.
At last! A restaurant with great food and amazing service!!!! Absolutely love this place! Everything we ordered was delicious. Margaritas were on point. Chris gave us wonderful service. I am excited to go back again!!! Thank you for a wonderful experience. My family and I have not had good food and good service in quite some time! May GOD bless you!!!!
My husband and I have recently started going here at least once a week because the food is incredible and the service is even better! We always leave with bellies full of good food and a smile on our face because the staff is so friendly! Texas Margaritas are the best in town! They are 100x better than the Mexican restaurant right in front of them ;
When here for the first time, and it was good , small menu- family own and operated, the guacamole was legit
Ordered 2 burritos supreme and when my food came out cold they microwaved it and gave it back to me.. sour cream, guacamole, and all.
The food is really good. Looks like a traditional Mexican restaurant. This was reopened and it's very good. No long wait times on the weekends, so it's a good option to the other Mexican restaurants near this area. We were there on a Saturday night and they had karaoke. It was fun listening to the music. Service is great and the prices are decent. We will come back.
We love it here! My husband and I come here whenever we both get off work early, which is about once a month. Always friendly staff, the owner is amazing and really cares about his business, and the food is always delicious. Keep it up, we love it!Food: 5/5
This place used to be our go to Mexican spot. Food and service were great. Since has drastically taken a dive with food quality and now service is horrible. Cheese dip was hard before we even got chips. Then fajitas came out very undercooked mixed with the low quality of meat they choose No Thanks I’ll take my business elsewhere.
We drove right by this place for two years because it looks like it wouldn't be anything. It's in a Kroger strip mall behind the much more popular Los Magueys. What a mistake. We have been here many times now and it is our "go to" Mexican night. It is never crowded and the food and drinks are better than any other in the area IMHO. We even had them cater a party and once again they did not disappoint. We are so sorry for wasting two years. Our loss. We love this place.
Food was alright. Won’t be eating here again. Las “aguas frescas” no son realmente frescas. Saben a cómo si fueran polvo de aguas frescas, como tipo cool aid. Chicken was a strange consistency. It looked cooked all the way tho so that threw me off. The service was good tho!!! Kind waiters!
