The Lowcountry Dental Study Club is dedicated to providing Continuing Education Credits to its military and civilian members, in all areas of dentistry. The goal of the club is to cultivate an atmosphere of discussion among its members, strengthen relationships within the dental community, and to challenge traditional dogmas in the ever evolving fields of dentistry. Every effort will be made to ensure an evidence-based approach.
The study club will be conducted in Beaufort, SC for the convenience of its members. Any alternate location will require approval from the Director of Dental Services. Membership will be open to private, military, academicians and any individual interested in the field of dentistry. Every effort will be made to use an audio/visual format (i.e. Powerpoint, Keynote…) for presentations. The location of the presentations will not be limited to civilian establishments, and with prior approval may include the use of clinical setting for demonstration purposes.
The study club is best described as a federal agency organization and is registered as not-for-profit. It may be in either lecture, participation, or a combination format. There will typically be 9 lectures per year, one per month in August, September, October, November, January, February, March, April, and May. The study club president will establish how ofter the board will convene to discuss matters pertaining to the study club and ensure that the secretary maintains minutes for each meeting.
In the event that a member of the board resigns or is unable to carry out their responsibilities, the President will confer with the Director of Dental Services and make recommendations for replacements. The Director of Dental Services will notify the President when he/she has made a decision regarding election of a board member.
