Absolutely ridiculous. “Emergency” room is not really emergency waited 7-8 hours to get a CT scan done. And every time we go to ask a nurse they makes faces while responding and super disrespectful. I said to one of the nurses “hey my mom is in a lot of pain-“ he cut me off and said “so are we all” like is that a way to talk to a patient ? Absolutely not that guy needs a little training. He started telling how many people are in waiting and I understand but this is absolutely not a way to talk. Also if you talk nicely we would even feel okay to wait but no. Ridiculous
Terrible experience as a parent accompanying my adult daughter for surgery, the pre-op and surgery went great ! Zero complaints about that, however post op I’ve been waiting over 6 hours to visit her. They did allow me to see her for 5 minutes. However, because the hospital has no beds for tonight she will spend the night in pacu and has had to spend the whole day in recovery where there are no visitors allowed. I’ve been a nurse for almost 30yrs and can’t believe the lack of compassion being shown here today ! If we had known this ahead of time we would have rescheduled her surgery.
It’s extremely disappointing when your son gets injured at the University and has to sit in the waiting room for close to four hours. I understand that the ER is a very busy place however, in a location like Lowell they should have a fast track to expedite chest injuries and they need to increase staff in the PM. Also, if you are going to order an EKG, when he first comes in, you should take the time and review the results. My son has no idea if his EKG is normal, abnormal, etc. You need to do better. He is still in the waiting room and no one has given him details on the EKG or the x-ray that was taken three hours later. OK my son has been there since 6:30. He finally makes it into a room. He was examined for approximately four seconds and the PA says he has a muscle strain and has requested more x-rays. Please note he had an EKG without being examined and also had x-rays of what I have no idea but was still not given details. They are now realizing they should take some x-rays of his ribs. I was told they have one ER doctor and two PAs and 65 patients plus. How can you order these exams/tests without doing a physical exam, and when you do a physical exam, it’s less than five seconds. Also, after 4+ hours they are asking him about his insurance. We explain to them that he is a student at the University and was injured on the University field. You can’t make this stuff up. Meanwhile, my son is in excruciating pain and has no idea why this process is so convoluted. I will be calling again in the morning to speak to the hospital. OK we are now six hours, and he has still not been examined and his His ribs were done 30 minutes ago. I have spoken to the nurse supervisor, Dave, who was excellent and very nice. However, this is unacceptable. I will be reaching out to the hospital tomorrow and explain to them how disappointed our family is. When you do not perform a physical exam, you are putting the hospital and the patient at risk. It is not fair and very dangerous for the community. My son received his x-ray 30 minutes ago and they are telling him that it will take 30 minutes or greater for the radiologist to read the x-ray. Are you telling me that the PA or the ER physician, cannot read the x-ray looking for a fractured rib. We are not asking them to look for a rare bone tumor.
My wife and I were there on a Thursday afternoon. She fell hard and had back pain and couldnt walk. We sat there for over 3 1/2 hours and watched everyone who came in after us be called in. We talked to the duty nurse who said, in so many works, that we weren't considered a rush and may yet have over an hour. We left. Their current rating of 2.5 is much too high. Never again.
I'm leaving 1 star because it's impossible to leave 0. If you are in need of care DO NOT COME to this hospital! Probably no one there has had kidney stones before. My wife arrived in excruciating pain and they left her waiting for hours with no assistance. And I tried several times to talk to the clerk and she always said that she couldn't do anything. This hospital is definitely horrible!
Here from out of state working been sitting here for nearly two and a half hours so many people have come after me and so many have gone before me after they say 3 to 4 hours normal wait time if this is how they treat visitors then I can only imagine how they treat there own. What a freaking joke this hospital deserves a no star!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Worst experience every time we visit emergency. How can they call it emergency room when you get no treatment for 12 hours or so! I never thought such a rich country will have such poor infrastructure when it comes to basic medical needs. And this hospital is I think worst. As people like us who live nearby and do not have options to go to, I doubt there will be any improvement related to this in future at all. People who serve here don't even care about you. Please have better facility in the area for emergency services.
Subject: Unfortunate Experience at Lowell General Hospital Dear Honorable Director of Lowell General Hospital, I hope this email finds you well. I had to write because you haven't provided your email for patients on the Lowell General Hospital website and that's why I am writing to bring to your attention a concerning incident that occurred at Lowell General Hospital recently involving my family. Yesterday, my wife, Mrs. Akram Alijani Bavil, experienced a severe eye infection, prompting us to seek immediate medical attention at Lowell General Hospital in Lowell. Regrettably, the experience we encountered was far from satisfactory due to the unfavorable behavior and intentions displayed by certain members of the hospital staff. Despite the urgency of the situation, we found ourselves waiting for an extended period of four hours before receiving any medical attention. Dr. Susan Lee, who was attending to patients during that time, unfortunately, seemed to align with the staff's indifferent approach. Her treatment approach appeared superficial and yielded no meaningful results. To our dismay, the situation escalated to the point where we were treated disrespectfully and subsequently asked to leave. This incident has left an indelibly bitter impression on my family. It was undoubtedly the most unpleasant and distressing experience we have ever encountered. I believe it is my responsibility to bring these events to your attention, as there may be aspects of hospital operations that you may not be fully aware of. I kindly request that you take the necessary measures to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future. Every patient deserves to receive medical care in an environment characterized by respect, empathy, and professionalism. It is my hope that your intervention will help ensure that no patient or family has to undergo a similar ordeal. I appreciate your attention to this matter and eagerly await your response. Your efforts to uphold the standards of patient care and well-being at Lowell General Hospital are greatly valued. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Akram
Between the labor and delivery nurses and the maternity nurses I’d have a baby over and over again just to have them all as my nurses again. What an absolute pleasurable experience! If you’re having a baby 10/10 recommend Lowell general
Came to the ED for a heart issue concern. Was greeted promptly and was kept up to date consistently concerning next steps. Ended up being admitted for tests and observation. Staff was attentive. The Tufts app is convenient and keeps you up to date on your test results. This makes it much easier to be able to ask informed questions with your care providers. The food was far above expectations for hospital food and the service is customized, personal and prompt. For my own health reasons, I hope that I’m not a frequent flyer, but if I have to be in a hospital, this was as good of an experience I could have hoped for. Professional, courteous staff and modern facilities. Would not hesitate to recommend. A+
