Purpose: The Community Food Bank is a not-for profit organization, which currently distributes food to those in need. Approximately 160 local families are served (almost 750 individuals). The Food Bank operates from the Springdale Borough Building on School Street in Springdale, PA.
Income Sources: The churches in the Lower Allegheny Valley sponsor the Food Bank. Our income sources currently include federal and state grants; area churches and their congregations; private donations; fundraisers; local business; and the United Way.
Distribution: Food is distributed at the Springdale Borough Building twice a month on the second and fourth Thursdays from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. Food Bank clients may come for food on both Thursdays. Food may be obtained on an emergency basis by contacting the Food Bank. It is the sole discretion of the Food Bank to determine emergency status, and we encourage the utilization of other emergency organizations such as the Red Cross and the Salvation Army to supplement your needs.
How We Compare: The Community Food Bank is a member agency of the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank in Duquesne, from which we receive some of our food items. Our Food Bank provides a vital service in the Lower Valley!
