Lucie’s Story
My name is Lucie and I’m a black lab mix. My mom says I’ll be 14 this year, but it’s hard to imagine. My mom found me when I was 5 weeks old at a shelter in Hot Springs, AR. Someone had dumped me and all of my siblings in the woods shortly after we were born. I was the only one to come out alive, and I met my mom the very next day. One year ago, I cheated death again beating liver cancer in one punch. The cancer was a big surprise; I went to the vet for a bladder thing that day! But a year later the vet says I’m in better health than a year before the cancer! What a relief.
My mom began making homemade food 3 years before I was born, for my older brother Jerry. Based on scientific research, holistic veterinary medicine wisdom, and good old common sense – my mom created this cost-conscious blend of ingredients that taste great and will help me live a long, healthy, happy life. She only feeds me things she would eat herself – prepared thoughtfully and with techniques specially for my canine digestive system. These pictures were taken the day I met my mom in October 2002, and on New Years day 2016. Not too bad for an old lady.
Lucie's Legacy is REAL food for your dog. I've been making this food for more than 17 years with Ingredients you'd eat yourself. Slow-cooked to retain every single nutrient, but broken down to suit your pup's digestive system.
Our goal is canine wellness as widespread as possible, so we search high and low for cost effective ingredients that do not sacrifice quality. We use only fresh meats and fish, and fresh vegetables and fruits. Nothing from a can and nothing frozen. Ever. High quality grains (quinoa and lentils) are added at the end to absorb the minimal cooking liquid added to the simmer. We use seasonally fresh nutrient rich foods, and we also offer limited ingredient special blends for dogs with allergies.
We donate a percent of our profit to animal charities, and we feed homeless dogs in Austin every week.
We are certified and insured.
