One of the best little hidden gems. Seafood was fresh and the portions were very filling. The homemade hush puppies were really good.Food: 5/5
In my opinion, this is the best seafood spot in all of Horry county. This place is nothing fancy…a humble little cabin tucked away on the side of the road. It’s just a one man show so expect to wait a while. But I promise you the wait is SO worth it. I always get the seafood platter which comes with Flounder, Shrimp, Scallops, Oysters, deviled crab, and a side of potatoes and coleslaw. You can get it fried or broiled. The scallops are to die for. Hush puppies are also served hot and fresh and have big chunks of onion. Any restaurant on the inlet you might get quicker service but you would get a platter that’s half as good for double the price. So glad we found this hidden gem. * Reservations required and cash only!
This unpretentious establishment seemingly has little to offer except for good food and friendly service. Located just outside of Conway on US-701 this log structure cut back in a grove of trees sits with a single red door and a narrow window with an “open” sign. Blink and you will miss it. Inside is a bare cement floor, open beamed ceiling and seating for about 30 on rows of folding tables covered with oilcloths and slat back chairs. Reservations are required and cash only. We arrived Tuesday for dinner and found the place relatively quiet with only two other tables in use and after a bit they to emptied and we were alone. Drinks and homemade hush puppies were soon brought to our table. These were larger hush puppies with a cornmeal taste and texture with onions. Different from other hush puppies we have had but good. We ordered the Fruit of the Sea seafood platter with a choice of potato, coleslaw, flounder, shrimp, scallops, oysters and deviled crab still in the half shell. Seafood comes fried or for an extra cost broiled, which we choice. Food took approximately 45 minutes with every single item made from scratch and tasting delicious. Large portion fed two of us with an ample serving of everything lightly seasoned and flavorful. Flounder filets were flaky, deviled crab creamy, shrimp and scallops broiled to perfection. Not big on oysters but they were doable, love the slaw and their homemade fries were thicker, soft chips. Our server was friendly and kept our drinks refilled. Living only a mile down the road this fish camp will certainly be our go to place for visiting family and friends.
Tucked away in a small log cabin style restaurant right off of 701 in Conway, comes some of the best seafood I’ve ever tasted. Great selection, service, and extremely tasty, this is an experience you won’t soon forget. There are only 5 or 6 tables so a reservation is required, but priced like it’s still 2015 your wallet won’t take much of a hit, especially for what you get. I don’t know how this place isn’t more popular and I’m not sure if that’s what the owner even wants. Every hush puppy, appetizer, entree, and dessert is made to perfection. Food takes a little longer coming out than most restaurants, but you’ll find out why when your plate arrives. I highly recommend this place. 5 stars, and can’t wait to go again.
You won't get frills here. It's a very simple spot that's out of the way, but IT IS FANTASTIC! Got the large seafood platter which was scallops, oysters, deviled crab, shrimp and flounder. It came with coleslaw and potatoes. It was delicious. Those scallops! Oh man. I don't even like scallops. I usually pass on them. I could have eaten a plate of these! The hush puppies can best be described as Right! Big and crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy inside with a little bit of minced onion. The oysters were perfect, not rubbery at all, and there was a very generous portion of flounder. Was completely stuffed by the time I finished. A brilliant meal at an extremely fair price. 10 out of 10 will do again.
If you are coming here for anything other than the food you will be disappointed. First thing you see when you walk in is a sign stating I'm too old and help is too hard to find. The owner is NOT a people person. The food was not bad. The table covers were sticky, the menus dirty, the A/C was not cooling the place and not a ceiling fan in the place was running. Also some sort of spider or roach fell from the top of the wall while we were dining. As much as I wanted to like this place, it was not in the cards. Oh and reservations only
If you want a restaurant that has excellent food with good portions, great service with good prices and would rather have that over a restaurant with great atmosphere this is your place. We have been here a dozen times atleast and have never been disappointed. FYI ....no alcohol served but you can BYOB. Mist make reservations and it's CASH ONLY
Lord knows I absolutely love this place. I don’t think there’s a better place on gods green earth. Don’t just take it from me look at the video/photosFood: 5/5
We finally tried Luvan's this Mother's Day and we thought it was wonderful. Everything was fresh and made to order. The food was tasty and there was plenty of it. I had the seafood platter...the deviled crab was okay but the rest was delicious. I recommend!
We have eaten here before. We got the Senior Flounder plate. $10. Two large pieces of Flounder with a generous serving of slaw. Choice of potato…I got French Fries he got Baked Potato. All of the food was delicious. We got more food and for less money than we got on a Senior platter In Calabash last week. Hush Puppies with onions definitely not frozen and hot from the fryer. The waitress was great. If you have never been before…No credit card accepted…Cash only. I would not go with a group larger than 2 couples. One waitress and one man kitchen so food is cooked one table at a time. Expect to wait for your food.I would not order the “All you can eat” platters unless you have plenty of time. You probably will have all you can eat on the regular platter
