This is my go-to WFH coffee shop in Grand Rapids, especially in the summer! Pros: • It's right next to Nantucket Bakery and Martha's Vineyard - I'll often grab a baked good or lunch from either one. • They have outdoor seating! In the front four tables and in the back three tables. Not a lot of coffee shops in Grand Rapids have this, so I specifically go to Lyon St for this reason. • Plenty of parking. They have a lot next door often full, but plenty of street parking. Cons: • It can be very hard to get a table inside. In the summer, it's not too bad as outdoor seating expands their capacity. If anything, Martha's Vineyard has some tables out too, so that helps. • It gets loud inside. With the door creaking as people walk in and out + people talking.. I wouldn't go here if you have a bunch of virtual meetings. Overall, Lyon St is in a cute spot and is especially nice in the summer. The coffee is average... nothing too spectacular and, in my opinion, overpriced, but worth the buy for a few hours at the shop.
It was pretty busy when we went but found parking an a table to sit at. My sister stopped in to work for a little bit and grabbed coffee and a pastry. The muffin I got was really tasty, moist, and I would buy it again and my coffee was also really delicious. Because it was busy it was an energetic atmosphere but I was still able to work efficiently while there. Overall the staff was fantastic, our orders were delicious, and I would recommend visiting if you have the chance!
Love the location! Not too far of a walk to downtown and the neighborhood is cozy. The drink is an iced caramel latte with almond milk. The flavor was sweet and delicious! The food item is a yogurt parfait which I wasn't a big fan of because it was a little bland but I still ate it. Nice cozy place to study or even have a coffee. They also have alcoholic beverages here too! Give it a try if you're in the area.
They're a traditional style coffee shop. They have some very yummy looking bakery items but I didn't eat anything, I only had coffee. If you get hot coffee for there, they make the fancy foam art in your cup. They have several non dairy options which is great. My coffee was very tasty. The staff were friendly, but they weren't great about telling you how they do things there. They don't bring your coffee to you, you need to pick it up when they call out your order. And you are expected to clear your own dishes. All of that is fine, I just prefer when I'm told what's expected. They don't have a ton of seating, it was full when I was there for indoor seating but they do have outdoor seating available. Vegetarian options: Tons of vegetarian options and they have non dairy creamer for vegan drinks. I didn't eat any of the food so I don't know if they have vegan food options. Parking: There is 2 hour free street parking right outside and it seemed pretty available the whole time I was there. I think a lot of people walk here.
The staff was very friendly, and the coffee was very good. Love the decor. I also got a raspberry coffee cake muffin, which was delicious.Food: 5/5
I really liked my latte. Extra points for the latte art. When I arrived every table had one person with a laptop occupying each table. So, I sat at a cafe table outside. They did not have oat milk. My apple cinnamon muffin was tasty but would've been moreso had they been able to zap it in a microwave or toaster oven.Food: 4/5
It has changed since 5 years ago. There are less pastries to choose from, but they have a nice atmosphere and outdoor seating. Their cups are also 12oz. I thought they were bigger last time. Overall. I'm glad I came back and still the only coffee place I will go out of my way to stop at in GR.Food: 4/5
I ordered a drink from someone named Hailee, she treated my like she hated me. I was very uncomfortable. I just wanted a drink, nothing special. She wouldn’t look at me when she gave it to me then just walked away. She didn’t even make the drink right. I asked her nicely to fix it, but she wouldn’t. By the time I finally got it, it was cold and still wasn’t made right. Overall very poor service, would not recommend.
One of the best coffee shops in Grand Rapids. Cozy in the winter and on rainy days. Perfect location. Free parking. Love the atmosphere, oh and the coffee! Great place to work/study or meet friends. Super fast free wifi.
Tight vibes, great service and employees, the raspberry crostini was legit and the cappuccinos are on the stronger side. Nothing that blew me out of the water but I’ll comeback for sure. Great cafe
