Drs. Maria Tassopoulou and Marcey Madera are providing quality orthodontic care in the South Hills of Pittsburgh
Dr. Maria Tassopoulou was born and raised in Athens, Greece. She earned her Doctorate of Dental Science from Athens University in 1995. She came to the USA in 1997 to study orthodontics at the University of Pittsburgh, where she earned her Master of Dental Science and certificate in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics in 2000. She also earned her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh in 2009. Since 2006 and up until recently, she has been an Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine. As a Professor she has taught orthodontics to both future dentists and future orthodontists. She has been a committee member for multiple orthodontic theses and studies. Her research work has been published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics which is the leading orthodontic journal worldwide. In addition to being an orthodontist, Dr. Tassopoulou is a wife and a mother of 4 children, Konstantinos, Paris, Nicholas and Gianna. She lives with her husband John Fishell and her children in Peters Township.
Dr. Marcey Madera graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnston in 1994 with her Bachelor degree in biology and minor in chemistry. Dr. Madera received early admittance into dental school at the University of Pittsburgh. In 1997 she earned her Doctorate of Dental Medicine where she graduated Salutatorian of her class. She received many prestigious class awards and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the National Dental Honor Society. She went on to earn her Master of Dental Science and certification in orthodontics from the University of Pittsburgh in 2000. She has been working in her field of clinical orthodontics for the past eleven years. Dr. Madera resides in Jefferson Hills with her husband, Michael, and their children, Seth and Ashley.
