Located just minutes outside of Normal, IL, the preserve offers a living history of native Illinois wildlife. Open every day from dawn to dusk.
"I am Ione Rhymer. I am 87 years old. While my body is deteriorating, my mind is still clear; my heart is still strong and my spirit still generous."
Ione Rhymer, in spirit with her brother, donated 15 acres of their farm under the condition that it would be held as a conservation effort for children and adults. Her vision for the preserve is carefully managed by board members who volunteer their time and effort towards the preservation of a local, native habitat.
The M.J. Rhymer Family Nature Preserve would love to see more visitors and connect with volunteers. We invite you to visit the preserve. Bikes, pets, and groups are always welcome. Please spread the word and help us make Ione Rhymer's vision a prosperous reality. Like our page and photos, leave us comments, or email us!
Thank you from the Preserve Board.
