"The first Macado’s restaurant was opened in 1978 by Richard Macher in downtown Roanoke, Virginia. It soon became popular for its eclectic ambiance of cartoon, antique, and local nostalgic decor, as well as its wide array of hearty yet modestly-priced sandwiches, subs, and entrees.Popular with the college crowd, the restaurant opened additional locations near Virginia Tech, Radford University, and Roanoke College. Locations were added at the rate of one or two per year, including those in neighboring West Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee.Macado’s just recently opened its newest location in Winchester, Virginia."

We had a great experience today! Not too busy, our server was great with timing and our food came out within a few minutes of ordering! Adding photos from a second visit because that big city jazz was post worthy
I sent my wings back because they put the sauce on the side and i couldn’t mix it that good because there wasn’t enough paper to mix it around and i didn’t wanna get sauce everywhere, they went back to the kitchen and came back drenched in sauce, our server seemed knew so we talked the manager she was extremely rude and had a attitude and didn’t really take time to listen to our issue and after i explained the issue she said “okay what do you want me to do about it” i’m not sure how this manager is a manager when the person doing pickup orders getting paid minimum wage has better customer service than the manager. The waiter also didn’t check in that often as much as the other table beside us and also didn’t remove any of the trash off our table the whole time even tho we put it near the edge so it’d be easier for him i don’t blame the waiter i blame who ever trained him
Great new Macados in Vinton. Lots of seating. Seating with indoor outdoor verve. Fireplace and cozys. Game room with clasic pin arcade games. Huge bar.Food: 4/5
This place has really gone downhill. On normal visits, the service is usually pretty slow and they do tend to mess up my order. Occasionally forgetting a salad or giving me the wrong menu items which is normally not a problem to me. Today we sat down at 6:15 pm and our waitress took our drink orders, we didn’t get our beverages until about 6:30. Then we ordered and continued to wait until around 8 pm for our food, when the table next to us that sat down about thirty minutes after us got our food and left by the time we got ours. When we were ordering, the couple who sat with us had ordered, the waitress took their order, then ours, and she looked back at the other couple and said “did you guys want to order anything?” She didn’t even proceed to write down what they had ordered. We hadn't ordered anything complex and then it took about another 30 minutes for us to get our check. It really shouldn’t take over two hours for a sub-par restaurant to have you eat and be out the door. The waitress didn’t give us any napkins and we had to ask different waitresses for utensils, napkins, boxes to go, and refills for our drinks. We wouldn’t have had any problem with this but asked to speak to the manager who continued to speak to us rudely and ask “you got any other problems for me?” After we had complained about our service. When the manager got us our checks, they didn’t even say what they charged us for. The spotty service we received previously and now this experience has totally ruined the restaurant for us. Needless to say we will be taking our business elsewhere next time.
Lively atmosphere. The food is awesome. They have an extensive specialty sandwich menu. There is outdoor seating, including a fire pit.Food: 5/5
Cammie & Ava are the only reasons we come here anymore. Even with difficult customers and a very busy bar and bar area we always feel well cared for and it brings us right back the next time. Even when discussing business, the bar with these two ladies is the only place we’ll dine or drink. Wish we could say the same about the other bar staff. Management and normal waitstaff has let us down too many times to count.
One star is generous, the hostess was visibly bothered we wanted to sit on the half empty patio. Our waitress could not tell us the beers on tap. I ordered an old fashioned, they came back 10 min later saying they didn't have the ingredients to make one. I asked for a drink menu. She came back 10 min later, with a menu that was torn and literally falling apart. Few minutes later I got my beer and had to stop the waitress from leaving to order an appetizer. She tried to take our menus didn't get the opportunity to order food. Waited 25 minutes for our appetizer before we decided to just pay for our beers and leave.
Walked in to have lunch and sat at the bar. My boyfriend asked kinda to get a beer. Server immediately said when I get these people taken care of it's just me serving this whole side very rudely. There were 3 people at the bar paying and 2 people in the booths. Wasnt busy at all. We got up to leave and she said well goodbye. Spoke to manager and left . I won't be back
Not sure what is happening at this restaurant. Table was dirty. Then I watched someone clean a recently emptied table and saw for myself the reason. Went for Wed. Specials, ordered them, their presentation was poor. All dishes looked like someone had just thrown the food in a bowl as an afterthought. Everything looked like there might be a free for all going on in the kitchen. I am not blaming the server, but she was lost. Rang up our food and wasn't aware of any "specials". Had to wait awhile to get our check corrected. Both bathrooms were nasty. One stall in women's out of operation and has been that way since last visit. Dirty water in men's bathroom floor. Maybe they don't have any supervision? Have they become complacent in their popularity? Don't go right now, they need to review their processes.
We had a kid's birthday party at Macado's and the customer service was excellent and the food was great. We enjoy the back game room for the kids! Kid-friendliness: The game room is great!!
