We split the hungry man's breakfast. Everything was good. Biscuits were kinda hard for biscuits and gravy. Service was good. We can always count on solid, good food when we go. Also got the chocolate cake. Looks better than it tasted. Had much better at other places.
We had breakfast on a Saturday. There was a buffet that looked real good and fresh. I decided to have steak and eggs. My husband had the French toast made out of cinnamon rolls. If you tell your waitress you love eggs, they will put an extra egg on your plate with any of the full breakfast meals. At no charge. My steak was overcooked, but they were quick to replace it with a perfectly cooked sirloin. It was very tender. The cinnamon roll French toast was sweet and delicious. And more than a grown man can eat. The Machine Shed Restaurant looks like a locals favorite! It is worth the stop. There were lots of unique things in the store, too.
I love this place. If you are into excellent food, excellent friendly service, and excellent down home ambience this is a place you will love too. I had the farmhand breakfast. It consisted of three eggs, sausage links, English muffin toast, and some of the best cheesy hash brown potatoes I have ever had.
I love their food and the HUGE cinnamon rolls. The biggest problem is that I always overdue it here because everything is so very good. This is one of my very favorite breakfast locations. We actually plan our cross country trips to stay near one of their locations. The food is great and the staff is always so nice and outgoing.
The Machine Shed Restaurant rocks! We had amazing service, excellent food and a very welcoming family atmosphere. The prices are extremely reasonable for the amount of food you get. We ate breakfast and must options were in the $11-14 range. Everything was so good. The restaurant is very kid friendly. We were traveling with two small children and they were treated very well by the staff. My spouse and daughter said this is their new go to restaurant for home cooked comfort food. This place was extremely busy on this Sunday morning. But you didn't notice the crowd as it is very spacious, lots of staff and fast. There was also a Sunday brunch buffet for those that are looking for that option. When in the Des Moines/Urbandale are check out the Machine Shed Restaurant, you won't be disappointed! Kid-friendliness: Staff was very welcoming and good with our small children and their needs. Parking: Ample parking at this location. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible location.
The food was spot on and I made both an excellent and poor life choice when I ordered all this food. There was no way I could finish this all and if I didn't have to fly out an hour later I probably would have taken that cinnamon roll with me. Service was prop and friendly and right as you walk in there is a lot to take in but definitely worth looking around. When I'm back in town there will be three things I do; one visit here day one so I take that roll with me again, two don't order so much and lastly and most importantly visit again.
Very good food and service. Gotta appreciate the American farmers more. Restaurant provides such a nostalgic experience. Everything we ordered was great. Especially liked the salad bar option. Spacious with lots of seating capacity.
Great breakfast spot! I have a family of five and they all got plenty of food and enjoyed our meals thoroughly. I got a great meat filled option that was so great and so much food. I was very content. We also saw the "World Famous Cinnamon Rolls" on the menu and had to try it. Our kids and I were very impressed. I highly recommend this place. The atmosphere is also really fun! Great family breakfast spot!
Visiting Des Moines we decided on the Machine Shed for a family dinner one night. The farming themed restaurant is nicely decorated with a small shopping area at the entrance and ample of seating. If you've been to a Cracker Barrel, you might see the resemblance. The service here was quick and the servers on-point with everything. The complementary bucket of breads and pumpkin bread was nice, especially the pumpkin bread, but definitely not helpful if you plan to finish your meal. The Heartland Combo was a nice way to sample the pork offerings. A generous portion size served with your choice of potatoes. The green beans sprinkled on the dish added nice color to the plate, but that's about it, could be better seasoned. Machine Shed is a nice local option for a family meal, and especially for bigger groups.
First visit. Met with a smile and seated promptly. Server very friendly and professional. Ruben was just delicious. The marbled rye was excellent. Proper portioning created a savory blend of flavors. Juicy corned beef dripped down my hands! YUM!!! The fries were fresh and perfectly crispy. Best I have had in a while. French Onion soup was dark, rich, and insanely flavorful!! Crouton was a seeded bread and was a great surprise like the French fried onion garnish. I definitely recommend and look forward to my next experience!!
