Starting a campaign to bring Mad Darbarian Theater to a local TV station near you!
Today I am proudly announcing a project that I have been working on my entire lifetime. As most of you know I have been a fan of hosted science fiction movies, ie MST3K, Dr Shock, Svenghoolie, ever since I was a child. My dream was to someday be one of these hosts and that day has arrived! We begin filming today the first episode of Mad Darbarian Post Apocalyptic Theater! Our Good friends at Comcast will be showing this every week Saturday at midnight on their Comcast Channel (channel 80). Our first episode will feature the cult classic “Attack of the Killer Tomatoes”. We have decided to do a Rocky themed first episode where I will be filmed as the Mad Darbarian running down thru Darby Pa on Main St, up the 9th street hill, past the Hilldale sign and finish running up the Highland steps (Art Museuem Style!!) by Darby Fire #1. We have begun a kickstarter campaign so we can do our “Live in the Bubble” Godzilla fest on the Friday after Thanksgiving. This is where we will fill live for 24 straight hours live behind a glass wall at the Comcast center in Phila showing 12 Godzilla classics. We appreciate your support!!!

Mad Darbarian Post Apocalyptic Theater
Idea,
Philly needs a locally hosted movie show, there has been a void since Stella and Saturday Night Dead was cancelled in the late 80’s. MDPAC would take this genre in a different direction. It would have the same characteristics of many hosted movie shows combining the horror themed and MST3k’s comedy based approach.
The base story is it is the year 2276, the world was destroyed in the 2020’s by mistake. A worker at a small country called Moldavikski spilled a coffee on his nuclear missile board and started WW3. The society as we knew it ended in a flash and now the human race is scattered around the planet in a medieval post-apocalyptic, Mad Max like existence. The tribe in the Philly area is called the Darbarians and their leader John Damole (ancient descendant of the Knight Jacques Demolay). He is an overweight lovable Viking like (Hagar the Horrible) character who is the leader of his people. John was arrested for crimes against the reigning tyrannical government and his punishment is having historical documents, “bad movies”, burned into his brain for “re-education”. During these sessions he begins to act out the movie, pre and post commercial break comic relief, and by shows end he comes out of it after he sees the credits and knows it not real. One segment would go over the movie and its stars explaining fun facts about it. Other segments would include comedy bits based on the movie and current events.
The cast would be his jailor- his sidekick and straight man, duke a rat puppet whom he shares a cell with, his wife, voice only and occasional drop ins of his old cronies.
Such movie classics like Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, The Giant Gila Monster, The Werewolf of Washington, Ice Pirates and The Amazing Two Headed Man would be the type of movies shown. These movies I can assure you are inexpensive to license and easy to mock. We could host old time movie marathons like Godzilla and Gamera (any Kaju), weekend, Classic Universal Monsters like Frankenstein, Dracula and the Wolfman, bad comedy Saturday with awful Saturday Night Live movies (Ladies Man, Pat and MacGruber etc) Super Sports Sunday with Grunt (wrestling movie) CaddyShack 2. The possibilities are endless!
How I foresee the show format is it would begin in silence MAY 19th 2026 will flash on the screen with a computer on a desk and coffee being spilled, a giant boom and mushroom cloud pop up then. January 2276 shows with John running up a hill Viking helmet, fur vest, biker boots, sword in hand while “I am the Warrior “ by Scandel is being played. He has a mock battle with the person who ends up as his jailor, a quick trial and our hero being thrown into the dungeon (show’s set). Short monologue, jailor grabs him puts him in the torture chair, hooks him up and movie fades in thru his eyeballs. After commercials have it fade back in and he jumps up to react.
