"Five Sisters Blues Cafe, located at 421 West Belmont on the corner of Belmont and DeVilliers streets, is a restaurant built on some of Pensacola’s deepest history right in the heart of historic downtown Pensacola – The Blocks. For decades this intersection was the epicenter of African-American business and social life. It was here that the progression of musical culture made its mark in Pensacola Each of the four corners of the intersection feature buildings that date to the neighborhood’s historic period that served as the hub of the blues community; including Gussie’s Record Shop, WBOP Radio Station and Abe’s 506 Club.As talent passed through and the good times rolled, the neighborhood welcomed musicians Louis Armstrong, Aretha Frank"

Disclaimer I arrived roughly 2 hours before closing and there was a 35 minute wait. The atmosphere was great I really enjoyed the old school soul music. Food was not what I expected as everything was cold and my chicken breast was dry but greatly seasoned. I enjoy my Mac and cheese creamy my yams soft and my cornbread moist which I had none of. My food taste like it was the lady of what they had sitting for the day. I am a fair man and would give them a try before closing because I know it had to be better! Drink was great the hurricane!
The food is just incredible and the service impeccable. We had the blackened fish and shrimp with grits, fried green tomatoes, cornbread basket, baked chicken with fried okra and it was all fantastic. We topped off our lunch with the most delicious peach cobbler. It was warm and sweet and reminded me of my grandmother's. Definitely a Southern lunch which was delicious in every way. Allow a little time as sometimes it takes a while.
I read the reviews and selected this restaurant for our lunch date. Man. I was not disappointed at all. They definitely do soul food right. Everything was perfectly seasoned, service was also excellent. These are the types of restaurant experiences I live for as a foodie. Thank you!! Dietary restrictions: The gluten free options were clearly marked on the menu. I’m celiac and ate here with no problem.
Both my husband and I loved the whole experience at Five Sisters. I had the Peach Long Island to begin the evening, followed with some great chicken fried steak. Great drinks and very tasty food… Definitely recommend!Food: 5/5
A Pensacola Gem! Kim provided friendly personable service as well as hostess and teams assisting bringing food to our table. Our food was great, very flavorful with large portion sizes. Half baked chicken was delicious, greens and mashed potatoes were also very tasty. Kids chicken strips and mac and cheese were a hit, and the kids fried shrimp and sweet potatoes fries were also a win. Plates were cleaned! For desert the peach cobbler with ice cream was just the final touch we needed. Throughly enjoyed snd would recommend to others. Parking was simple and just across the street, family friendly and worth it.
Nice spot for southern comfort food. The chicken and waffles were fantastic. You have the option to choose from tenders, breast, leg, or wing. I recommend getting the chicken breat. The spicy chicken sandwhich was also delicious.Food: 5/5
The food was delicious.. We had five in our party and everyone was happy with what they ordered. The service was sadly horrible. The waitress was nice, she just did a bad job. We really never saw her. Never even got our drinks refilled. The place was cool.. The music was way too loud. I will definitely go back. The food made everything else worth it. All the employees we interacted with were very nice.
Came here on a Sunday around 11. Very busy had to wait an hour and fifteen mins for a table. Had jazz music inside which was great, but very loud so we sat outside. The fried chicken was great, the Mac and cheese was not very good, kind of dry. Service was wonderful!
The food was delicious!! Service was great! Kim was our server and she was very helpful and extremely attentive!! From drinks, to appetizer, to entree, to dessert…chefs kiss We WILL be back!Food: 5/5
I'm not sure this is a negative, but it changed my opinion of this place when I realized that it is part of fairly large restaurant group. Why can it seem so hard to find a unique place of its own? My feeling is that when the place gets too far away from direct ownership and/or oversight, the food becomes cookie cutter, standard, and mass produced. I try to keep that to myself until I experience differently, but I had some vibes of this during our experience. Our food was good overall but not spectacular. The yams I had on the side tasted simply like thanksgiving sweet potatoes and I didn't bother with them. I had some gravy on the side and it was lumpy. Our mains were pretty good - baked chicken, shrimp/fish and grits. I don't think I'd return, but it's good enough, and if you have to satisfy varied tastes, you can easily do that here. Location is easy to get to near downtown and parking seemed abundant. It was very cold inside which was somewhat uncomfortable. The outdoor patio didn't look better, though, given the weather that day. Staff was very nice, prompt and polite.
